Mig 19s and T-55s? sounds like Israel is going up against a museum collection

They're not up against a proper military yet. Lebanon has nothing in the way of armour and airpower. But Syria and Jordan have Cold War era armour and air power, T-54/55s, T-72s, MiG-19s, MiG-21s ... maybe a few MiG-29s.

Also keep in mind that Israelis have good training and are a disciplined force. You may find some of that in Syrian forces, but with some of the Arab forces, discipline under fire is spotty at best. The fanaticism in some of the is foolhardy. I do remember Jordanians training with us Americans in the 1980s, so at least their training was good.

The Afghan forces have been trained by U.S and British forces, and they're still pathetic. It seems to be in their nature to cower and spray aimlessly under fire.

Another thing Israel has, that the Arab world doesn't, is the means to collect valuable information while blocking the Arab attempts to do so. Electronic measures and counter-measures are the most important parts of any military in this day and age, and Israel as well as the Coalition forces are far in advance of any Arab nation. We have special forces, satellites, spy planes, EC planes, phone tapping, computer hacking ... th works. They have nothing. And that is what saves lives, and aids the planning.

I know there's jokes made about "military intelligence" but in the end, it's what gets the job done.

The RAF evacuated 40 British citizens from Beirut earlier today. I don't know where they flew them to, should I assume HMS Illustrious is nearby? Or did they take them to Cyprus?

Not sure but I believe it was Cyprus because a reporter in Cyprus was showing British Citizens.

Over 100 German citizens were evacuated as well, and US citizens as well.

Things are starting to role my friend. I can not give out any info, just that I had a day off today because of the Rolling Stones concert in Munich last night, and I got called back into work this afternoon.

well I heard and not sure through my sources that there were at least 20,000 US in Lebanon. that sounds awful high to me but many workers there are quite more than what we realize here back home.

There are actually about 25,000 US civilians living in Lebanon according to the state department.

Lets just say they better have there bags packed, things are rolling as we speak.

Saw that earlier today and they said it was an Israeli jet now they are saying it is the failure of a Hezbollah missle. The Israeli's have denied losing any aircraft over Lebanon anyway.

no but what the Israelis did catch on video and Hezballoh and Iran are deniying it fully is that Isr. Jets smeared a rocket truck with contents from Iran all over the landscape. Yep time for Israel to make a little breakfast raid into Persia

Yep, it is about time. They will undoubtable be supplying the with weapons to keep their rocket campaign going (as will Syria to a certain extent), time to remove the influence of them over the Middle East.

Illustrious and Bulwark are in position, and four more Royal Navy vessels are on their way to Lebanon. They aim to be evacuating all British citizens by the end of the week.

You know whats interesting? I just learned that most of the Lebanese army is trained and was equipt by the Israeli's, that the muslims for you, they f**k you over.

It's definitely heating up. Looks like this one could get real ugly, real fast. I have heard 25k US citizens there as well. From what I have heard and seen, the ships are taking people to Cyprus.
