I actually think that Israel is digging itīs own grave with these actions sooner or later. They failed to support the liberal part of the palaestinians and got the extremists on power, they failed to support lebanese (not Hezbollah) forces to assure security and thexy got a strong iranian / syrian influence in Lebanon. They failed to gain opposition in within the extremists forces, also. They do have the military power to destroy any military thread but that actually is no military thread which they have to face. What do You expect will happen in ten or twenty years? Or fifty or hundred? No, this will be remembered by arab nations for decades to come. For a longer termed view, this deletes any probability of stable circumstances, peace & prosperity in this region.

Look at the world map(s), kinda freaky. Doubt it. Any concessions that Israel gives to the Palestinians is seen as a weakness, not a strength. Will the Israelis take back those territories? Who knows, but you know the UN will go apeshit if they do. Not that the UN is worth anything anyway. How many UN peacekeepers were in Lebanon? How many watched thousands of missiles going in from Iran and Syria for Hezbollah to target Israel with?
The UN does what it wants and cares nothing about anything other than their self interests. They are corrupt, inept and impotent. The Israelis know this and if they don't defend themselves now, the Arab extremists will feel ever more emboldened to inflict more terror.
If you think that Assad, Syria or Hezbollah alone are to blame for this, you are dead wrong. This crap is all coming from Iran. It is buying them even more time to work on the nuclear weapons programs while world attention is somewhere else. Iran and Hezbollah is using Lebanon for their proxy war on Israel. It's time for the Lebanese to wake up and get these Hezbollah animals extinct.
