Excuse me, Britain burnt down Washington. I've noticed that Americans seem to forget, the Treaty of Ghent was signed before the Battle of New Orleans. It's pretty obvious Great Britain didn't care much for the war, as we were obviously winning. The War of 1812 was a British victory. America started the war because of Britain pressing American sailors into the Royal Navy, and they wanted Canada. They didn't take Canada, and Britain had stopped attacking American vessels before the war even started. Britain had pushed the American forces from the Great Lakes to New Orleans, how is that a tie!?

Adler, one of the many reasons for the War of 1812 was War Hawks in the U.S congress wanted Canada. Feel free to look it up.
