Country: | All this discussion and recrimination, makes it easier for a complete outsider to understand why so many people have been killed, and so many massacres committed. It makes you realize that Tito was quite remarkable, even if you dont agree with his politics.
Control of the balkans cause WWI, and was a factor in the Great patriotic war as well. Somehow i think it will play a role in the next european war as well

Country: | Our medias are currently too busy with the upcoming elections, so not much about Kosovo is being said. I wonder how they are doing down there? Whenever I look it up on the internet always the old news-Kosovo getting its independence and such.

Country: | Hello peoples You take me wrong. I dont want to say that we are angels. But I want you to look at the other side. I am not for war, that is so stupid. But we must to defense our humans rights. The wars during ninethiets is so wrong. But in people eyes Serbs are genocidians and other natins no, no matter what they do. That I was want to say about propaganda war. Peoples are killing without reason. But I am not nationalist but I defens Serbian rights. But one thing is true that KOSOVO is area of Serbian first medievel country. I am soory about me, but my emotions overcome when you say Serbians are guilty for everything, and Albanians are victims. |

Country: | The Croats , Bosnians, Serbs and Kosovars are all equally to blame >I believe the Serbs got the raw deal was their leaders such as Milosovic and the Ratko Miladic were both goofy.

Neither the Kosovars, Albanian, Croats, Bosnians are innocent here.
The problem is this. Everyone from that region, Serbian, Albanian, Bosnian, Croatian, etc. all want to point fingers and forget about what there side has done.
I will say it again. Until everyone stops pointing fingers and starts looking at a peaceful future without hatred, there will be no peace in your future. Quote:

There is a reason why your region is known as the "Powder Keg" of Europe. I truely believe that there will be a new war in Europe and it will start with the nations in your region and then I believe Russian and NATO will get involved on the opposite sides. China will then take advantage of all of this....

Dont be naive Milos.

So, my personal view.
here the facts :
Serbia sees this region as its heartland - nonsense, cause 90 % are not serbians
if Kosova is so important for the serbs, why the slaughtered the people in the past, or is not willing to invest there ?
Give Kosova the Independence and let us see what happen - tillthan the NATO has to stay there.
T | Some more oil for the fire perhaps....
I think that it would be too easy to totally dismiss Milos' point about Kosovo heritage being trumped by the population percentage of Muslims/non serbs.
Suppose in the future 70 - 75% of the people in Texas are Mexican/American or born in Mexico. They overwhelmingly vote to scede from the USA and re-join Mexico. Should the US then defer to the majority opinion and allow this? If you argue that "Texas is an integral part of the US" is this not the same as Serbia's view of Kosovo?

Country: | From what I understand ethnic Albanians walked into Kosovo after WW2 and Tito just turned a blind eye to this - perhaps because he saw a source of cheap labor.

Country: | Hmm, sounds familiar, doesn't it Joe...
Walking across the border, cheap labor and a blind eye by the government, yep, sounds too damn familiar.

Country: | As the other Milos said, our people don't want any more wars nor any more destruction. Unfortunately, we must, for now, wait and see what happens after
May 11th elections.
If something happens, I want you all to know it was a pleasure knowing you guys. |

And once the newcomers make up more than 50% of the population then they can start to re-organize the government the way they want to.
Do you think that any group of people in a state or territory should be able to "vote themselves out" of a country?
A difficult question to be sure....

Country: | I think you all saw a map that posted on a prevoius page. This map shows all the churches and monasteries that existed and have existed on Kosovo. Some were destroyed by Turks during their rule, and some by Albanians or simply by the effects of time during communist regime. I posted this to show Tango35 that we do have a reason to call Kosovo the founding grounds of our Orthodox church.
You know what I would really like? To ask a Kosovar (Albanian Kosovar, the one who wanted and supported the independence idea) is life any better now? Are there jobs, do they have enough money?
Fingers crossed with these elections that we are having today. May God smile upon us and grant us peace and prosperity. |
