Country: | Massive Labour losses in local elections [ENGLAND+WALES] Not sure how many fellow limeys or on here, but these are the results of the local elections:
LONDON
Boris Johnson CONSERVATIVE 1,168,738
"Red" Ken Livingstone LABOUR 1,028,966
REST OF ENGLAND AND WALES
CONSERVATIVE 3154 +256
LABOUR 2368 -331 (wow!)
LIBERAL DEMOCRAT 1805 +34
PLAID CYMRU 207 +33
OTHERS 893 +5
London statistics are the amount of votes. I didn't even bother putting the lib dem follow up. The numbers below are the amount of council seats.
I am most pleased about the 8 year reign of Ken finally ending. I was sick of him getting chummy with muslim fundementalist clerics and Hugo Chavez. Boris is a bit of a turd but Ken was just a Giant Douche.

| What was the cause for labor to take such a hit?

| Taxes. Incompetence. Wasted public spending. Uncontrolled immigration. Stupid new laws. Human Rights act that makes it impossible to punish some criminals, or to deport foreign criminals and terrorists.
Couple that with the government having boasted for the last 11 years that they've "abolished boom and bust", and taking credit for the good run of the economy. Now the economy is heading south, just like everyone else's, but of course the government don't want to take credit for that. Government spinning that they've "abolished boom and bust" is one thing, but what's become apparent is they seem to have believed their own propaganda. The result is that now economic difficulties are setting in, government borrowing and taxes are already as high as they can go, and there is nothing left in the bank for a rainy day. |

Country: | I can't see any way on earth they'll be in power after the next election. People are sick of endless tax, fuel prices, immigration, crime etc etc and nothing but spin in return. However, I have a feeling the Conservatives will be just as useless...........

Sounds like our good friend Barrack Hussien Obama policies and Democrats. While the Pubs were not much better it did seem things were in a little better check. The problem I have is when will our yahoos learn how not to spend?Another point if I may it's odd how the rest of Europe and the world is going conservative and capitalist and we are going towards Socialism or even Marxism?I for one do not plan on giving up my gun collection for the government. |
