Country: | So who do you prefer? Hillary or Rice? Who is the lesser of the two evils. I cant stand Hillary but at the same time I am not a big of fan old Rice.

Country: | You mean Condi, Adler? She's not running. Nor do I think she will in 2008.
And with respect to your question. Condoleeza without even thinking about it.

Country: | Get this - California is looking to pass a law making it illegal for parents to
swat their kids on the butt. You could turn in your spouse for spanking!!!
I love California, but some of these politicians need to get real. |

And with respect to your question. Condoleeza without even thinking about it. | Yes that is who I was talking about and I know she is not running. I meant it more as a joke.

Country: | I figured so. Talk about a tough bird. I think that Condi would get us in quite a bit of trouble internationally. But Hillary would be inept and would likely introduce social programs that would forever bankrupt this country.

| This whole thing about parents educating their children has been pushed down to laughable levels...
If any of those guys could see how our fathers used to proceed when we, as little boys, broke their rules or took no heed (and such a thing happened only a few years ago...late 80s and first half of the 90s) they might want to put our fathers in prison for life.
Even worse...the stories about the punishments my father used to receive from his father should now seem like material to make a horror movie...is my father a "traumatized" grown up? Is he uncapable of handling daily life situations? Is he unhappy? It´s plain stupid to even ask these questions.
And i will understand we are living in what they call "a new world", or perhaps we´ve been pushed into such belief...yeah, yeah: the world has observed critical and substantial changes, all in a real brief period of time. "The present day world is not the world our grandparents lived in..." Blah, Blah, Blah...
Agreed that there can be cases of parents who can be very brutal, also there can be parents that are alcoholics and/or drug addicts that completely lose control and might also charge against the wife and kids for no apparent reason...but those cases should be treated as clear exeptions and, yes, punished.
So if a normal, ordinary citizen that is a father, comes home kind of pissed off after having had a tough day at work, and is greeted by a commitee of kids that disobey his orders and break the home rules -so far, as i use to believe, parents are the ones who draft the rules at home and not the children- and smacks them...he shall get punished and fined for that?
What you are likely to have now is parents that are afraid of treating their children fearing they might be accused exactly of what? Have they already come up with some kind of name for this "offense"? Some shrinks might be working hard to create some kind of "new" funny word, or a combination of, to describe the "offenses" of the "new era".
Give me a bloody break here...i am beginning to wonder what kind of grown ups will emerge from this kind of new culture..."daddy touched me, daddy touched me!!! therapist please, therapist please!!!!".
We will see how these "protected" children behave say within 25 years from now when they leave the house and will have to face the world.

Country: | Geez I am pretty sure if this law was passed, well more yaears ago then you all need to know, both of my parents would be serving time. I don't know, I may not be perfect but I worked for most of my life and have necer been in jail. I wonder if being disciplined when I needed it has any connection? |
