The only guys from the UN that I actually got along with and respected were the troops from Norway... The rest were all worthless... The politicians are just that, politicians....
As some of u know, I was in Somolia during BHD and can tell u that the movie showed most of what happened, but not ALL of what happened... General Boykin was criticised for not listening to his senior staff.... It cost a bunch of good men their lives....
Ive always said that the SEALs could have done this quicker and faster and with alot less people involved... There are special rigged harnesses that we used that could speed lift 10 men out in under 10 seconds.... Wham bam thank u maam...
This should have been stictly an airborne assault, start to finish...

Country: | My buddy was there also. He was with the "Night Stalkers" unit. The unit that lost the Blackhawks. He said that was there darkest hour. I can only imagine what it was like for the ground units.
And P-38, I am sorry but I have to agree with them on this. There was no reason to bomb the **** out of them. We just never should have gone there in the first place. You cant just go and bomb someone because they dont believe in your beliefs. Who cares if they dont want want what we have, it is there life.

Country: | Yep, indiscriminate bombing of people we are trying to help is kind of counter-productive, don't you think?
I agree Les, the whole operation was a mess. Wrong tool for the wrong job, as they say. The **** thing is that good guys lost their lives for that third world toilet of a country. Talk about getting the shaft.

| Events like the rough attack to Aidid's propaganda radio station in July,12 by an AC130 SPECTRE with many civilian innocent victims don't help you get fancy by common people.
But I don't think that AC 130 crew were really guilty for anything.
We all should ask WHO sent there those valiant men from USA,WHO gathered the gain for Somalia events and WHY all troops(Italians much more than Americans) had their hands fastened when they suggested on the battlefield the most professional cost/effective military operations.

Country: | bet you didn't know that Somalia was and still is a hot bed of terrorist activity did you ? there are many connections within the world that 99 and 1/2 % know nothing of even those in the military. Obviously the blackhawk incident still creeps up, sadly in a crap movie, and incident that of course we as the US are looked down upon by the world for even undertaking........... I'll say no more |

Country: | I hear you, Erich, but it was handled so badly, it was a cluster **** of the highest order. I knew it was going to be bad when our troops were landing on the shores and being blinded by the press with their floodlights. I damn near **** myself when I saw that. It definitely did not bode well for the opsec.

Country: | I know very little of the actual facts of the event but I have seen the film and if its somewhere near the truth as you guys say it was one big balls up from start to finish what the **** are troops from the most powerful nation on the friggin planet doing exchanging small arms fire with a bunch of wogs on roof tops ect from soft vehicles it just goes to prove that some commanders are just as crap in the 21st century as some of those from the 1914 war.

Country: | I think we should just leave that craphole alone and let them kill each other because the only thing they have up to date in this world are their guns!
