News Media

You know I am just sick and tired of News and Media putting out false information just to make a good story and to appease to the liberal minded that believe everything is told to them because they are damn sheep. A good example of this is the reporting of the War in Iraq. CNN has completely exploited it and turned it around and made there own stories out of it. I am sure BBC and most of the major networks are doing the same thing. What is you opininion on this trash.

I use many sources for news as they all seem to have some sort of agenda one way or another. When it comes to things like the war in Iraq, I find the best source is from guys who are or were there. Unfortunately, freedom of the press can be detrimental to the general good.

I try to find various sources for news as well. The Canadian networks are as bad as any other for incomplete information, half-truths, or sometimes just plain falsehoods. But, just like our American cousins, we eat it right up anyway. You're right Adler. People are sheep.

I too have problems with the press for several reasons.

1, if the press likes him the President can do no wrong - look at Clinton. Is this true everywhere?
2, It's ok for a reporter to spill the beans, resulting in the deaths of someone (many times sildiers). I think they should get Murder 1.
3, They do pad thier stories
4, They do bias their stories

Under our constitution the freedom of the press is presumed to assure wrong doing is exposed but its a lot easier to create the issue in some way. The other thing that is not taken into consideration is that the glut of grusome headlines tend to create fear is so many people who lose sight of the context and proportion of any given situation.

Lastly anyone who is persued by paparazzie should have the right to defend themselves by force if required.

Anybody else?

I dislike the media in all forms, and dont watch the local news or read the Morning paper... (well, the sports page I'll read)

The news is either about death, destruction, politicians or criminals, and its ALWAYS twisted to be more interesting to the public.... I've had enough of the media 10 years ago, let alone today....

I basically am just sick and tired of how the press manipulates the truth to get a good story and turn it against other people. Then the general public forms there opinions from what they see and see it as the absoulute truth and dont even think that there may be another side of the story or a 'real' truth. I see this on this forum a lot and it drives me insane.

what grilled me is when I was in Israel in 1980 and the news media then was bold enough to state on the TV "we make the news !"

and that is all it took for me to quit watching except for local news which is about as bad and unprofessionaly done

If I remember my American history correctly, it was the lies and distortions of the tabloids in the 1890's that got us into a war with Spain.

I guess, there is truth in the saying "the more the things change, the more they stay the same"

I dont think it will ever change. As a matter of fact I think it will get worse because these liberal punks own the major networks and they are basically using there program to voice there opinions. CNN is a great example of this.
