I am as u can see from germany...rhyme

first of all i ve to say thank u to all those who gave their lives, got wounded or lost their relatives to free germany from a doomed system.
Now, nearly 60 years later, i m realy happy that many things changed here. Germany is not longer the enemy but instead most of us do everything to make new friends all around the world. For sure there are everytime a small handfull of freaks who act like crazy fanatics (political, religious...), but this people u will find in every country. Your job is to keep them small!

I realy hope, that there will never be a war like the last one but i defenitive think if things go on as u see in the arabic world, we are on the best way to support the start of a new big war.
Everytime when few have it all and the most have nothing, things start to change...Europa is quite wealthy, same way with america, canada eg. but if u live in a land that is ruled by fanatics u are quite uninformed, poor and chanceless. And at this point u become an easy victim to ideologys like "america and europa are the ones who cause our defizites". For us it seems a step forward when the invasion of irak began but for those, who actually don`t have newspaper, tv or any other " more or less objective" information, it seems like an other proof of negative treatment done by the western world!
The timebomb is ticking fast!

So, i hope my english is quite understandable and i could vitalize the discussion

I agree with you what you pretty much said. I spent time in Iraq when I was in the US Army and that is pretty much what I saw from the people in Iraq and the countries surrounding it that I went to.

I do not have an inferiority complex. Nor do I have a problem with people who hold different views as me. You however can do so with a bit more tact. You have shown that you have no tact or class in my opinion.

Who didn't see that one coming????

Maybe some of the european members can help me on this one. Why is it that it seems the majority of Europeans do not see worldwide terror, the supporting of terror by certain nations, and the subjugation of masses to tyranny or even genocide as their problem? I very well may be wrong, and I certainly do not intend to speak for Europeans. This attitude, that it's not our problem, is very prevalent in America too. I really do feel that if we let Iraq go to hell in a handbasket and leave - then my children will be fighting there, and it will be worse than what we have now. Iran may be the most irresponsible state in the world - and to allow conditions that will increase their power, in my view, is not to the benefit of ANY of the west.

This whole issue seems to be increasingly driving a wedge between US and Europe, save for Britain which seems to recognize the threat...

Unfortunatly you are correct. I think that Europe and the US need to band together more on this. I think sooner or later it will happen.

I agree that the majority of the western populations do not see the threat. It is sadly common that democratic countries rarely deal with the threat at a distance but only when the wolf is at the door. After the attacks happen on home soil, or the line in the sand has been crossed too many times, do the democracies of the world rouse themselves and act. We've had it very easy for a long time. Convincing somebody to forgo more income (in the form of higher taxes to deal with this conflict, increased government intrusion and loss of family members in active combat) to deal with a war that has no obvious benefit or solutions is very difficult.

Our kids are going to be fighting this thing, and so will their kids. We've been sucked into a 1300 year old civil war that has no solution. We are going to have a helluva time containing this one.
