@mkloby:i agree with all of u in the fact, that europa should do a little more to stop terror regimes but i definitley NOT want to seperate USA from Europa.
I can only try to explain it the way i see it: First prob for germany is that there is one paragraph in our constitution ( it was built up after WWII) that forbit a direct military operation. Our "Bundeswehr" is not allowed to attack anyone as first strike. Second prob is, that there are still many "older" politics who raised up in the last days of war and fear that other countries would not tolerate if the german army will support eg the US army by doing a first strike. But i guess this will change when our younger (my) generation will have a bigger influence in politics. There are right now some efforts to change some of the paragraphs in order to do more for working together. So we are sending some military ships to israel in order to stop the Israel-Libanon-conflict, and that is realy risky when u keep history in mind.
U r right when u see iran as a big timebomb but i guess an other war will not solve the problem. up to now, the war in irak is still on. dont get me wrong when i say this: u can only win a war when the civil inhabitans are f... u.. by their leadership AND see the benefit of what u do in their country.

greets Chris

I agree with you Oz. I really do hope however that the younger poloticians get more involved because I would like to see Germany step up and take a wider role.

After 9/11 I and no doubt the vast majority of citzens of the UK fully supported and continue to support the US in regards to Afghanistan.

Unfortunately during the buildup to the conflict with Iraq we in the UK had the whole "Doddgy dossier" fiasco on WOMD. Which happened to be a a whole pile of horse **** that could have been written by a 5 year old. It was also painfully clear that the powers that be lacked an understanding of the Iraq people/politics and a strategy for peace and the rebuilding of Iraq afterwards was missing. This was even before we commited to action.

I am not a bleeding heart liberal or a serviceman but I fully support are troops. It just pisses me off that we weren't prepared and are troops are stretched so thin and are lacking equipment and then you have the PM remark "soldiers should expect casualties" (Arsehole). You can't give a country democracy its people have to struggle toward it in order to value it.
