I think we should drill for oil everywhere! Alaska, Manhattan, in the middle of the White House grounds, Disneyworld, etc.... BUT if an oil company is responsible for a large spill or damamging the enviornment, the CEO will be held criminally and moniterialy responsible and wil be forced to drink a gallon of crude oil per day for a year!

An oil derrick would look great at Mount Rushmore on top of Teddy Rooselvelt's head!

I didn't say I agreed with you on Alaska. But, actually, I agree with you on that too, Adler, because I don't think it should be tapped, either. I'm sort of an environmentalist, after all. I said I agreed with you on the Middle East, i.e. we need to find our oil somewhere else and tell them to go screw themselves.

And waste all that oil?! No way. Besides, I suppose accidents happen, so yes, I think they should be held monetarily responsible, but not criminally responsible. Those CEOs don't want to lose that oil any more than the environmentalists want them to spill it.

Yeah, I know a bit about what you're talking about. However, I believe that at this time, we'd have to put more energy into moving the electrons than we would get out of it. Negative energy output...enough said.

Alaska is wild and untapped a pipeline will do nothing to destroy the incredible beauty amongst the vast spaces.............been there seen it and plan to go back whether I want to willingly or not. Unless you have been there and seen it for yourself then you believe media lies about the enviro impact it will have. It will do nothing of the sort. this is one of the huge lies that others on the east coast and across the globe are pushing, especially the case as it started while I was elsewhere on this globe in the early 1970's; good old TV coverage, we do not reprot the news WE MAKE THE NEWS !

Unless you are an environmental specialist of some sort, I do not understand how "seeing" Alaska can inform you of the environmental dangers of oil tapping there. I'm not saying that there are environmental dangers of such, but what I am saying is how would one know just by visiting (or being stationed in) the state?

I can respect that. I get the hint about your background, but it is difficult for me to just accept things, because I always want to know more! I understand that you perhaps cannot say more, but that is a shame in my eyes.

A shame only because I'm a curious person.

The only reason I do not want Alaska tapped is until I get my land, once I have my large plot of land up there, then they can go around it, I just hope they are careful and do not **** it up.

I too believe that they should tap texas all damn day.

Adler if you are seriously thinking about the Anchorage area you are safe. some pretbitchin scenary and land on the east end of the city, as they are building right into the woods. as per past conversations as long as you and the Mrs. do not mind the occasional male/female moose coming up to your deck to give you a morning/evening greeting then go for it. Those animals, although a wonderful creation of God have a not so keen disposition. My wife subtley freaks every time I mention a move towrds the Northern Sphere. ah but the Boeralis on a winters eve is spectacular and really cannot be commented on verbally. you are just in ah .........

Yes we want to live in Anchorage area, but we also would like to buy about 100 acres in the middle of no where somewhere up north and put a small cabin on some lake front property to go in the summer time
