My thinking is if you produce a sound bite - it will be turned against you. If you don't say a word - it's hard to twist that... although I'm sure the media will try. Lastly - maybe there's documentation on this last video, but I heard no question posed to him, and all you heard was him sounding off. Could have been to an unrelated question or another incident. There's nothing that proves that interview was directly even tied to the incident. The media isn't exactly a bastion of integrity.

I've seen all the clips before. The actions of the Marines in the third video is completely justified, camera there or not that enemy was trying to remove himself from harm and that cannot be allowed. Bragging about it is another matter...

The actions of the Marine in the first clip was justified, some friends of his had died and the adrenline must have been steaming through his body. The man infront of him killed his friends and vengeance is a natural thing. To do it in front of the camera is stupid.

Many British on here will remember, or would have heard about, the Iranian Embassy Siege in which the SAS killed all but one terrorist. This one terrorist was saved by the media, as you see an operative dragging the terrorist back into the building to be shot before he realises a camera is watching him. Upon noticing he drops the terrorist, and keeps him cuffed. We all know what thoughts were running through that mans head. But that SAS bloke knew the consequences if the media would have caught on to it.

This rather reminds me of a real-life version of those ludicrous American B-movies in which the US Forces are shown as being composed of 100% homicidal maniacs out to kill, wound or maim everybody - you must have seen enough of them. With such unadulterated hatred from your own media, who needs the gooks?

This is something which the British Army does not have to put up with to anything like the same extent. Looks like Michael Moore thinkalikes have taken over your media.

Pulling the journalists out now does unfortunately make it look like the Forces are trying to cover things up, though. Difficult to know whether they should or should not react that way.

I saw a picture of Michael Moore a while ago. It was enough.

Like I said, I'm now a teacher in Higher Education - I have a couple of American colleagues - other than the fact that sexually, they'd just love San Francisco, they both have the same chip on their shoulders - namely that the US can do no right. And they show Michael Moore films to their students, who, being French, are already so brainwashed about the US that they can not tell the difference between one ars*hole's axegrinding and reality.

The axe the two are grinding is probably that they've been run out of their communities in the US for being queer. Got to admit, from my experience of small-town USA - New Washington, Ohio - that I wouldn't want to be a gay boy round there! (Or anywhere else for that matter!)

And so your media spends the day looking for real, solid working people, in this case soldiers (I use the term loosely), to bring them down. P*sses me off, too. The guys are doing a pretty good job in a nasty situation.

Whats really so sad is that those Marines will get a faster trial than Saddam for Christs sake...

And for the record, Michael Moore loves the co*k...

Could not have said it better. I wuold love to put all the media in the shoes of the soldier for just 1 week and then see how they feel.

For my two cents, I don't think the street fighting was staged. The point about the M249 not being loaded is incorrect in my opinion. If you notice, the SAW suffers numerous failures to fire and you can see the gunner continually yanking the receiver as he is trained [clear the chamber and load a fresh round]. Looks like either a malfunction or a dirty weapon.

I don't know how anyone could make the first film out as a murder. He clearly indicates the guy is faking, he is jacked up on after action adrenalin, and the insurgents are known for boobytraps or forfeiting their lives to get one last shot off. If he was such a killer, why didn't he off the other guy too?

Innocent.

And if someone was attempting to kill me and I beat him to the punch. I'd be celebrating life too. That's the difference between the sheep, the wolf and the sheepdogs.

Another case of don't be an a*se in front of someone with a camera - and these days of cash-and-carry journalism, that includes your muckers.

That skull looks bl**dy clean, though, doesn't it? They don't normally look quite so well-groomed. Might have been borrowed from Medical school...

Yeah Chancelor Merkel is pretty pissed off about it right now.

Not to say they are not wrong for doing what they did, but you dont ever see the press getting upset about coalition soldiers getting tortured or dragged through the streets.

If that had been a skull of one of the NATO soldiers there being played with by Taliban, there never would have been a stink.

I hate the press.

So which Marine inquisition did I hear this morn that one of the Marine's agreed to assault to avoid murder charges? Different from this one, right? Something about supposedly murdering a 54yo Iraqi man. The Marine agreed to the lesser charge to "provide all information he knows" {aka squeal on his fellow marines). Semper fi.
