| Our Marines Being Abused by the Hard Left Media and Washington What do yo think of the trials of the Camp Pendleton Marines for shooting an Iraqi? I've heard that our Marines haven't had a fair trial, and that the U.S. government went on hearsay from a CNN reporter who sensationalized the event. I've heard that the witness to the event was possibly an Al-Qaeda member, and our gov't listened to them rather than the Marines themselves. I've also heard that the military is isolating and breaking these Marines down, and doing plea bargains to get them to give up and get executed, etc. It sounds like a breakdown in justice to me.

Country: | Its bullshit. I think the military is using this as a puppet show to show to the world. Unfortunatly they are letting these guys take the fall for it.

Country: | Never mind the short term interest (for the government), they ought to think about the long-term effect this sort of BS is going to have on people's willingness to get in harm's way next time they are needed. Personally, it'd take a lot of "Your country needs..." BS before I'd go anywhere, if it's to be strung out to dry afterwards. I thought fighting an enemy involved killing them, even if they don't like it.
Having said that, not entirely certain of what happened here, so I may be a bit off-track.

Country: | I think this is the one that has to do with the Marines that supposadly executed an Iraqi man and it was broadcast on TV. What CNN does not tell you is that the guy they killed had just killed a few Marines. If this is the case that I am thinking of it happened while I was in Iraq and we were taking down Falujah for the upteenth time.

Country: | You're right - it's a BS attempt to make an example out of them. Sad thing is that there are many in the media that drool over when a soldier, marine, etc is in this situation, as it fires up the liberal crowd and "proves" that America is the ing nation that they say it is.

Country: | That is because bad news is good news. I can not ****ing stand it. It really hurt me when I was down there to never see the many good things that we did down there, only the negative **** got into the news.

Country: | Here is the video clip from said incident...
***WARNING**** Quite graphic...
Second clip is of the type of fighting going on in Fallujah, and what these jarheads were involved in....
Third clip is of basically the same thing, different situation, no charges, no trial...
Remember, quite graphic...
As for my personal beliefs, a dead terrorist/insurgent is one less to worry about facing again... Also, many so-called "wounded" "soldiers" booby trapped themselves, or played unconcious to lure the Marines in close, where they would detonate a grenade or device....
My life is more improtant than some scumbag insurgents...

Country: | I seem vaguely to remember being trained to shoot the sods, whether they looked dead or not. Mind you, they also spent a hell of a lot of time teaching us how to search bodies, precisely for the reasons you gave there.

Country: | without a doubt the Marines are a scapegoat due to the news media. We hhated those young punk chumps that stuck out like a broken limb when we were on patrol, one reason why I decided to get a trasnfer into another unit and deep in the woods of .......... (?). Remember everyone left us to rot in Nam and to take care of our own. Sadly a reason enough we were so scred up as a combine dbody of soldiers that the slightest whim if a CO we thought was out of line he would mysteriously disappear or get shot. As to the insurgents, or whatever means you call them they should all be shot on the spot more than once. This is war folks, and it sucks from both of the spheres. Kill or be killed and yes that is hard to explain and hard to accept, but I am simplifying for all non-military personell to easily understand ........... |

Country: | ( At last - "deep in the woods" he said - A REAL INFANTRYMAN! SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT A RECCE PATROL IS! AND WHO DOESN't USE APCs! HAPPY! )
(Sorry about that, but I've been feeling very alone surrounded by people who worship noisy mechanical transport... )
