Greetings ladies and gentlemen.
Today was a day of election in the provincial county of Charlevoix...
My county.
Even if the Parti Québécois won with roughly 1,600 votes in the past general elections, the Liberals decided to not run in that election to let the opportunity to the new leader of the PQ to get a seat. However, an other party, the ADQ, decided to run for it. All in all, there was seven candidates to the election.
The results are out ! And the PQ won that county election with 57% of the votes. D'OH !
So the new leader of the PQ, Pauline Marois, is gonna enter the Parliment by the front door.
So, now we're gonna be stuck with that Castafiore in the opposition. Anyone remembers Tintin ? (See pictures below.)
Not only does she is an arrogant, rich, fat girl (got to watch my language, here), but she is also living in a castle at l'Ile Bizard (sorry for the poor quality of the picture, that's the only one I found). Her palace is built on a 41 acres site of which (according to the Montréal Gazette) 7 acres would belong to the gouvernment.
How could a minister in a provincial gouvernment was able to build a castle estimated at $3,000,000 ? By naming her husband (Claude Blanchet) at the head of the SGF (Société Générale de Financement du Québec) at a high salary. So, in a way, they both got their castle with our vote
and our money.
I once heard somewhere that Québekers' electoral memory is 6 months... I think it is even shorter.
