| Patrick J Buchanan's Advice on the Situation of Race Relations A Brief for Whitey
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America?
Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.
This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal
services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.
Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??
Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks.
Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids?
Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.

Country: | Sys, very good post. Thank you. The frustrating thing for me is that there are many issues like this one where there are obvious truths that we as a country ignore and never have a rational discussion about. New federal government initiatives only encourage Blacks to continue to believe that their problems are caused by our culture and our society and that they(Blacks) are not responsible. The black leaders who recognise and are willing to deal with the problem, Cosby, Sowell, Williams are ignored or called Uncle Toms. |

Country: | Wow! I never thought of it that way, but if I was a black I would rather be in America instead of Africa. Starvation, despots, it's not a good situation for many people there, and it's sad, but at least George W. Bush is their friend too.

Country: | And the whole point that is lost on Minority leaders is that it is not a question of racism but one of EQUALITY. But bring that up and you'll be beat down for being a bigot.
Let a white man speak the words of Rev (?) White in a church.
Let there be a National Association for the Advancement of Caucasian people.
Let there be a white Miss America.
Let there be a Congressional White Caucus.
and there would be cries of racism, threats of criminal charges for discrimination, and on and on and on.
Its called equality - has nothing to do with color or race. MLK is turning in his grave.

Good points, Ren.
You are right that some blacks wallow in the "victim mentality" as an excuse not to be self reliant.
HOWEVER, I disagree with some of the commentators who insinuate that there is no more racism in America. {& Canada or other countries}
If there are legitimate complaints of racism or discrimination it annoys me to hear people like Hannity condemn the complaint as unimportant. "you should just be happy to be in America"
Real ligitimate complaints of racism should be dealt with fairly and not swept under the carpet because of "national pride"
And about the charges by some that Pastor Wright is "outrageous" or "unpatriotic", I heard a very good commentary by Newt Gingrich, he cautioned everyone to be hesitant to critisize people like Wright who live during the civil rights era. Newt grew up in the south and said that anyone who did not see the rampant, systematic, extreme racism there, and its effects, can never fully understand the mentality of black Americans.

And yes, he is outrageous and anything but patriotic, but most of all he is a hater of America.
Hope I never meet him on the street, cause I'll probably get in trouble.

Country: | I'm with you TO. Wright is a disgrace to his race. I hope his attitude is not that of the blacks as a whole. FB, racism is alive and well everywhere. So what! It is nothing new. There is anti semitism in most places. Believe it or not if one views Texans as a race, there are many people who dislike Texans. When this country was settled, many of the early settlers viewed the Scotch Irish as lazy vermin. Many blacks hate whites and many Latinos look at Anglos as barbarians. I would not be surprised if there aren't many people of Anglo descent who look down on people descended from the French in you country and vice versa. I don't think racism will ever cease. As far as issues we can't have an honest debate about, besides our black problem, look at the oil deal. The Repubs say we need to drill in ANWAR, the dems say no way. Do you notice that nobody, either side, says we need to drill off our east and west coasts, particularly the Florida coast. Lots of oil there but they don't want to tick off the people in Florida, so that is the elephant in the corner that nobody talks about. |

| I've heard that Texans are nothing more than Mexican migrants that never made it to Oklahoma.
