I agree with a great deal in your last sentence. If Obama loses there will be much unrest and finger pointing and talk of racism. If the election is close (and it will be) and Obama loses the dimocrats will say it was stolen and it may go to the supreme court again.

As if one needs a reason to vote against Obama, his latest "energy" plan shows what he is about. He wants to put higher "windfall" profit taxes on "big oil" and give a thousand dollar tax credit or rebate to each family, probably not to millionaires. Let us examine this. First, who and what is "big oil"? I guess they are oil companies above a certain size that headquarter in the US. Surely Exxon Mobil is in his cross hairs. EM is a corporation and their stock is owned by guess who? Us, individuals, pension funds, anyone and everyone who invests in the market. To boot, it is said that corporations don't pay taxes but rather pass the taxes onto the consumer. That is to a certain extent true. So Obama is going to take money away from us so that he can give us some money to help pay for gas. What do you want to bet that the amount we get won't be as much as we gave? "Big Oil" makes big profits because the companies are BIG. However when EM came out with their latest profit figures their stock did not go up because the market thought they did rather poorly. In fact, there are many corporations in the US that do much better than "Big Oil" adjusted for the size of the companies. Why not tax them more? How about Google? The reason why not is that "Big Oil" has been demonised by and is the whipping boy of the dimocrat party. Obama and the D---H---- around him think that people in this country are such idiots that they will get all emotional and want to punish 'Big Oil" because of high oil and gas prices. All dimocrats running for office here in the Four Corners area are using the same tactics. Are you one of the idiots that will be fooled by Obama and the dimocrats?

But Ren, I don't understand.

The mantra of the left is the war in Iaq was because of oil. Which, I assume for them is bad.

They don't want drilling here in the US and want to go after Big Oil. Which I assume is bad too.

What do they want us to do? Is Detroit gonna stop making cars?
Are asphalt roads gonna be torn up for concrete?

I don't understand his direction.

But I guess as the Governor of Virginia implied, Obama is the saviour, - even Russia listened to his advice!

That's what scares me ren. IMO the majority of American voters are not paying attention.

A lot of the American voters never pay attention! Fortunately, those who do pay attention vote in much higher proportion than those that don't. If the ignorant and uncaring stay home McCain wins in a landslide.

I do not think he is as popular as the leftist media portrays.

Just watch out for the riots in november when he loses.
I don't see riots if he looses.. I see the possibility for riots if he is assassinated... which is not a far fetched scenario all things considered.. and I am sure that those who would gladly carry out the act see that as well..

Believe me... this country is headed for Chaquitaville regardless.. Our elected officials have already sold us out... wait till the dollar hits bottom.. and they have to come up with the American version of the Euro.... I don't think there is much that anyone can do to stop it either... and no one will notice or be able to do much because everyone will be too busy scrambling to keep their homes and feed their families..

I just don't see the gloom and doom some of you see... and I don't see the pie in the sky that many others see either... No matter what his plans are and what he promises like any other president.. the current one included, he will find a different set of circumstances facing him if he gets elected... My only concern is that someone might try to kill him, which would be a shame and very bad for the nation.

I wouldn't worry about the US dollar just yet.....

Surge for the dollar as global fears rise

August 15 2008

The dollar surged to a two-year high against the pound and a six-month peak against the euro on Friday, as fears about spreading economic gloom triggered a sell-off in commodities.

Against sterling, the US currency notched up its 11th consecutive day of gains – its longest uninterrupted rise in more than 35 years – as markets became increasingly convinced that the US was best-placed to weather the global downturn.

Bearcat, I've had some of those same fears and its a sick feeling knowing some dope would try.

But I also see riots if he doesn't get in. Certain communities have rioted for less.

Answer the question Senator Obama!

August 16th, 2008

Obama says pointed abortion query “above his pay grade”

DALLAS - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama side-stepped a pointed query about abortion on Saturday by “mega-pastor” Rick Warren during a televised forum.

Asked at what point a baby gets “human rights,” Obama, who strongly supports abortion rights, said: “… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.”

Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who followed Obama onto the stage of the nationally televised event, was more blunt and more emphatic.

He said a baby’s human rights began “at the moment of conception".

Good post TO. As usual Obama equivocates and parses his answers. To use a term of Perot's, he is an empty suit.
