In order to be a world super power you have to project economicaly as well as politically and militarily.
adler, if you pay atemption to read some bit of the 5.000 years chinese history, youll se that in 15° century they could have conquered the west if they will. when colombo and cabral cross the seas in little caravelas, the imperial chinese fleet had numerous and enormous ships wich navigated along the indian ocean and also some people says, came here in the americas before colombo.

they was more concerned in maintain the route of silk. they are a trade people, not militarist. the bigger army in the world in contingents, is just to say: "hey, dont threat us", also that exercises near taiwan is just theatre, they know the economic risks of a invasion in that island.

And the Romans conquered all of Europe as well...

Jug, what do you mean by that?

Buicks are selling like hotcakes in China while they couldn't sell a hood ornament here. They may be a rising economic superpower but they will soon hit the wall that all economies do. The US government can weather problems like that whereas those socialist economies can't.

All of you who think that Obama is such a wonderful candidate, please list all of his qualifications for the job of president of the most powerful nation on earth! As far as politics being dirty in the US, get out your history books and look at some of the political cartoons when Lincoln was running or later became the president. When Goldwater was running against Johnson the dimocrats ran an ad with a little girl and an atomic bomb going off intimating that Goldwater would bring on nuclear warfare. The bitterness and polarization you see now is somewhat typical except it has been exacerbated by the belief of the dimocrats that they were robbed of the election in 2000 and by the disappointment brought about by the personal indiscretions of their fair haired boy, Slick Willy. The other factor playing a role in the rabid behavior of the dimocrats is that the leadership and control of that party has fallen into the hands of the far left and they sense an opportunity, if they can elect an arguably, marxist and racist Obama, along with a left wing congress, they can move this country more rapidly toward a collectivist society with the attendent weakness in our military. You foreigners who love freedom and liberty should get out your worry beads!
lol - you missed the point - my point anyway. Which was: Who gives a s*** about the politicians personal lives (other than for entertainment)? If they do not commit crimes their private lives should be - yes - PRIVATE.

Points on Obama:
1. He's patriotic but not nationalistic (people seem to have forgotten the difference)
2. He is not a warmongerer - and as such believes that dialogue on top level should take place before eventual wars.
3. He believes in science (odd that this has to be a point - but the degree of religious nuts in the race does make it a pro IMO)
4. His primary source of income in his campaign has been small private donations - should give corporations less infulence than before.
5. He is well educated, smart and articulate - frowned upon as not being important by most right wingers (guess that explains GWB ).
6. He thinks a military budget of 440 billion USD might be a tad high
7. He is pro universal healthcare
8. He has lived abroad
9. He does not believe in absolutism
etc etc...

As for McCain - he is simply too old - having a 72-76 yearold in charge of the USA is not a wise choice IMO. I know this is not a political point but I just can't figure how people can oversee it...

Please explain why Obama is Marxist and rascist? And remind me - why should we as freedom loving people be worried? And why does it seem comical to you when someone from a so-called socialist country points out the absurdities of the political system in the US?

Adler - you asked for evilminded voices from the right - Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Pat Buchanan, Bill O'Reilly and the list goes on ...

Jug, thats true!

Please explain why Obama is Marxist and rascist?
1. He considers his grandmother a "typical white person"
2. He told a group of rich liberals(is there any such thing?)"...And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion...."
3. He sat in a church listening, without protest, for 20 years as Rev. Wright spouted things like...
September 2001: “The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”
December 2007: “Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich, white people. Hillary would never know that.”
Jan. 13, 2008: “Fact number one: We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college. … Fact number two: Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run.”

And before you say it, I know this isn't what Olabama said. But it does show his character to sit for 20 years in the pew, listening to this and nothing so much as a peep that it bothered him or he was against it.

I would define evil first. Those talking head conservatives maybe hard core to the bone but they don't disrespct the government as much as left-wing radicals do. Like.....

CODEPINK*:*June 13, 2008
"Honor these and other Iraqi dads by making a contribution of $25 or more to assist Iraqi refugee dads in your father's or loved one's name. Once you donate you will be redirected to a page where you can send your father or your loved one a beautiful card with the image of an Iraqi father & his children."

CODEPINK*:*June 13, 2008
"Members of Code Pink, an anti-war organization, protested Rep. Gary Ackerman's (D-NY) house boat with a canoe blockade Wednesday morning."

CODEPINK*:*Protesting Petraeus
When General David Petraeus entered the hearing room to deliver his testimony, protestors chanted "Stop the killing," "Surge of Sorrow," and "Stay out of Iran." Several protestors from the Code Pink anti-war group were dressed in black hijabs without veils, their faces whitened with makeup to make them look like corpses. Others held up hands reddened with paint to represent blood.

McCain criticizes Obama for wanting Iran talks | Markets | Reuters
"Once McCain completed the Iran portion of his speech, three anti-Iraq war protesters stood up in the audience in the convention hall and sang, "McCain is in the kitchen with George Bush."

MoveOn.org: Democracy in Action
"MoveOn members wearing “Got Paper? Got Audits?” T-shirts packed a recent voting machines hearing in Congress, spurring many elected representatives to speak up for voter-verified paper records."

I'm watching from a stones throw away and would say both sides are are so venomous to each other its not about the country its about percieved ideas spewed by both sides although I would say IMHO the Right wing is more vivcious . Groups like Move on is a fringe group and no one heeds them anyways they have been brought into promimence by the right leaning spin doctors . Name calling like leftist , communist socialist all hark back to Joe Mccarthy

Dan, he is the most liberal senator in the congress by his voting record. Read Njaco's post for further info. He has never held a job in private enterprise. He is such an expert on foreign affairs that he wants to go before he is ever elected to Germany and make a speech at the Brandenberg Tor. How is that for hubris and poor judgment. You say he is not a war monger so I assume you believe McCain is. Don't be putting us seventy somethings down. Seventy today is 100 years ago fifty. If you don't understand how a leader cannot lead in the US when his morals are so poor(not to speak of his judgment) that he has sex with an almost minor in the Oval Office and then commits perjury in court, then you once again are showing your ignorance on most any subject regarding the US.

Pb, I'm not sure what the news reports for you up there so I can't speculate on what you see but down here groups like Move-On are very vocal and visual. I remeber reading full page ads in the local papers - not just the big-wigs like the NY Times or the Wash Post - but little papers that had called General Betrayus (their words) just before he gave his report to Congress. You're right that conservatives are vocal and bent at times but nothing on the scale that Move-On and Codepink among others, have done. They are out and out vicious, they care nothing about respecting the government or at least pretend to, they are animals. No different than that church that protests at soldiers funerals. Same mindset.

1. Completely taken out of context - the meaning of it was that she was a typical white person of her time!

2. Yup - I saw this piece of voyeur footage. I can't say I disagree with him. But its not a wise thing to say in public... but hey - it wasn't meant for public either. (how does this make him a marxist or a rascist?)

3. How do you know he didn't speak to the reverend about it - and only the one about HIV is wrong. Furthermore that reverend is a man of his time - just like Baracks grandmother - I don't blame black people from that era for being bitter.

"Now can someone direct me to a conservative group that is this disrespectful, loathsome and ignorant? You can have all the Rush Limbaughs you want, but he doesn't compare at all to the childish, arrogant tactics of these liberal groups."

Yup - same list as I gave before - except I forgot about Rush - thanks.
Difference is that these are Big conservative names - while Code Pink and Moveon.org are - as PB said - fringe groups.

You still didn't explain why he was marxist or why non US citizens should be afraid...

No I did not.

I asked for the left...

Why because the leftist do it just as much as the right. People who talk **** about the right seem to forget that. More than likely they choose not to see it.

yea - he is a liberal - thats pretty obvious - but then again that what he is running as - so the problem is??
Why is it a problem that he has never held a job in a private enterprise?
Hehe - bad move on germany - hadn't heard about that. But really not that big a deal IMO.
No I don't think McCain is a warmongerer - however the previous administration had its share.

He is not 70 - he is 71 - and when his term is over he'll be 76! My dad is 82 at the moment. He retired at 70 but could probably have worked til he was about 75ish. But he himself says he wouldn't vote for someone that age. I mean - the worlds most powerfull nation led by someone who cannot use a computer. And what are the work hours for a president (not counting Bush Jr.): 18 hrs a day? I'd like to see a person in his 70'ies doing that for 4 years.

Yup - you are right - I do not understand how you pick your leaders. Clinton had an affair - why was that anybodies (but him and his wife's) business??
Look at the US when Clinton left office - and look at the US now that Bush leaves office. If I was a US citizen I'd rather have a sexual loose cannon than a real loose cannon - but hey I'm not.
