Obama also stumbled by referring to a nonexistent world leader:
Obama: I would immediately call the president of Mexico, the president of Canada to try to amend NAFTA
Canada, of course, has no president. It operates under a parliamentary system, and the head of government is the prime minister. Since February of last year that office has been held by Stephen Harper, leader of Canada's Conservative party.

This story from yesterday's news... and this is no slip of the tongue Democrat Joe Biden suggested Tuesday that presidential rival Hillary Clinton doesn’t adequately understand recent events in Pakistan.
The Delaware senator was responding to news that Clinton suggested in two recent interviews that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is up for reelection this month. Musharraf was actually reelected in October, and the upcoming Pakistani elections are parliamentary, not presidential.
“We have a number of candidates who are well-intentioned but don’t understand Pakistan,” Biden said at a campaign event Tuesday. “One of the leading candidates — God love her.”
“There are good people running,” continued the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who has made his foreign policy credentials a centerpiece of his long shot presidential bid. “But to say Musharraf is up for election! Musharraf was elected — fairly or unfairly — president six months ago. It’s about a parliamentary election!” Clinton’s comments came in an interview with ABC Sunday, in which she said, “[Musharraf] could be the only person on the ballot. I don’t think that’s a real election.” The New York senator also made similar comments during an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer last week, saying then, “”If President Musharraf wishes to stand for election, then he should abide by the same rules that every other candidate will have to follow.”

Originally Posted by syscom3 So whats the big deal? Its no worse than a "bushism" | Yes Bush was "pranked" in 2000 because he didn't know who the Prime Minister of Canada was. But to be fair, Al Gore didn't seem to know what Canada's capital was! One of Rick Mercer's trademark comedy routines on ''22 Minutes'' was ''Talking to Americans'', in which he would travel to a major American city or institution and conduct on-the-street interviews with average Americans regarding Canadian politics, the weather, etc., often with hilarious results as the subject's ignorance about Canada was illustrated. One famous example saw Mercer asking Americans' opinion on whether Canada should change its "20 Hour Clock" to the 24 hour one used by the United States. He received approval from citizens and from the {Democratic} Governor of Iowa, Tom Vilsack. On another occasion he got the support of Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in calling on Canadians to save the "National Igloo."
Mercer made international headlines in 2000 when he pulled a ''Talking to Americans'' stunt on then-presidential candidate George W. Bush. He successfully got Bush to answer questions about non-existent Canadian Prime Minister "Jean Poutine" (a play on the real politician's name, Jean Chrétien and popular Canadian -- especially Québécois -- dish poutine). Bush was not amused at the time, and has since then refused to accept any interviews from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation CBC. However, he did make a joking reference to this incident during his visit to Canada in 2004. In the same US election campaign, Mercer asked Democratic candidate Al Gore to promise to visit the Canadian capital city of Toronto after his election (Canada's capital is Ottawa). Gore did not question Mercer's incorrect identification of the capital of Canada.

The "Hill" would be bad, but I don't think the Huckster would be much better....

Gee, do you really think the Presidency is that difficult a job? Nothing that a couple of terms in the Illinois state senate & a half term as Senator wouldn't prepare you for?
I heard that a fair number of Democrats were going to vote for Mike, (helping the Republicans commit "Huck-i-cide") Maybe there are some Republicans out voting for Obama?
