Country: | This is something that has finally made it to the media... U think this is the first time that a school administrator has made comments like this to his/her faculty???
Maybe the first time the media has gotten a hold of it, but certainly not the first time teachers have been told to "dumb-down" their academic expectations.......
In the radio report I heard, one of the reasons for said memo was that the kids have a tough life at home....
Awwww...... As if the kids in Harlem are the only ones who got it tough...

Country: | Fu*kin A right Lucky.... Im soooo sick of this crap it makes me froth at the mouth....
Here in Ocean Springs, which is part of Jackson County, their academics were RAISED to counter the rise in academic failures so well-known throughout the country.... A 70% score is a D-.... A 94 is a B+... So on and so forth....
I was alittle pissed when I first moved here, but it seems to make sense now.... I still think it was done to cover the School Districts ass, as well as to get more income from the State for educational purposes/grant $$$....
I would certainly hope this Principle steps down/gets fired, cause Im sure some sort of activist group will take opposition to this...
As far as Im concerned, let the dumb kids get dumb grades... The world needs ditchdiggers too u know...

Too bad we can't set academic standards or IQ test for either judges or Principal's. I'm having a hard time mauevering this comment into my school years when nobody was too concerned about the hurt feelers of lazy and stupid kids, born to lazy and stupid parents (and we are discussing white parents here).
Pass or flunk. flunk and you try it again.
My sister is bailing from High School teaching career of 35 years for reason similar to this

Country:  | Im with Les on this. Its utter bull ****. Instead of telling the teachers to lighten up on the kids how about telling the parents to be a part of there kids lives, get them off the streets and make them pay attention in school.
Unfortunatly in so many cases it is the fault of the white man....
