| This showed me, quite clearly, you weren't willing to discuss the economics of the US. And far from kept it clean and civil. Maybe not a direct insult, but you talk down to me like that - you get a reaction ten times worse. And by attempting to impose "authority" on to me, you're making it worse. If the Admins find my language and behaviour out of line then they will inform me, as they have done in the past. Since all of them are decent, and I've known them for quite a while I will listen. But not you.
Your self-righteous attitude is all too clear, it's obvious that you seem to think I'm stupid. Do you expect civil replies to you claiming your nation as being the greatest while mine is poor, and my people are lazy or incompetant? Because you've done it in the past while saying we can't look after our own health insurance, so we let the government do it. You're lucky I didn't go off on one then.
Now, you seem to be ignoring the facts here. The GDP of the US is the worlds largest, there's no denial here. But it's certainly not strong. It's in a steady decline - as the site I provided, which it seems you have not read, has showed.

Country: | You JUST don't get it do you Havard? The GDP per capita isn't the only figure you should be looking at to find the "strong" economy. Just read the website all the way through. I haven't ignored the GDP per capita at all that's why I've admitted it's the LARGEST economy in the world.
And if you'd read the site you would also realise that the U.S spends more on the government than Japan does. So, who's got the smaller government? Japan!

Country: | Because you can't prove that America has the strongest economy, yes.

Country: | I'm sure you can... but that's not hard to do. But I was merely pointing out the fact that the U.S doesn't have the strongest economy. Which can also lead to the fact that Japan spends less on it's government than the U.S does - so, Japan has a smaller government ... they're the best place to look at for your argument.

I agree with what you are saying, the US may not be the absolute best, but it's close. If Japan has a smaller gov't, they deserve a salute.
Japan also has a very high code of ethics, they have an extremely low crime rate. This supports my earlier argument that if the citizens themselves have a higher moral standard then smaller gov't indeed works. |
