Country: | Russia is not a real democracy. Sure there is an "opposition", but that is just a cover-up by the Kremlin. The real opposition is silenced, newspapers raided, dissidents arrested and even murdered, etc. Russia is pretty much like any other third world nation, just in larger scale. Strong centralized leadership, the capital city is pretty rich, but poorness is just outside its gates, decreasing fertility, politically colorized views on past history, extremely rich ruling class of oligarks, even more extreme foreing policy...
I think Bush has made a big misjudgement by making Putin his "ally", now war in Chechnya is "war on terror", no genocide or civil war. As long as Russia is in the hands of these dictators who disguise themselves as patriotic heroes, Baltic countries take note. Stop depending on Russian gas and trade. Double your defence budget, join the NATO.

Go live in the virtual world and play your video games.
What flavor is your window by the way?

I suggest you either make a point, or be silent. Just because he is German does not make him an anti-semite. That's a really cheap shot and uncalled for.
I suggest you stop, NOW.

| And then what? Russia will never attack, because it does not have sufficient army forces. It will however use nukes in any direct war with NATO, so what will you achieve with greater budgets?
And while US warmongerers blow their war-horns and small, completely inferior baltic coutries try to suck up to USA as much as they can to keep the agitation going against a country that has no hostile intent whatsoever, commie china has day by day growing its army, and of all nations it DOES have attack plans, and those don`t include some fly-sized countries in Europe. | A great misjudgement is putting an idiot in power who called the constitution "just a goddamn piece of paper" and has the IQ of a junior school kid or less. |

I like the debate and am open to it despite disagreement - but again, this is just not the proper thread.

| I bet he didn't even know Bush has an MBA from Harvard and was also qualified to fly F102's.
Being "dumb and stupid" doesnt get you either of those qualities.

Why go out of your way to piss off the Russians? | Go to your globe and place a string indicating a great circle route and make a line between Northeast Iran and the following cities, Stockholm, Berlin, London, and Washington, and see what part of the world falls under that line. It would be nice to have anti-missile defenses including radar along that line. |
