Country: | San Francisco Bans ROTC Well the extreme left strikes again. I'm posting this under politics hoping that this will get more review. Just announced, the San Francisco school board voted 4-2 to ban the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.
God help us. We have been invaded by an enemy from within. What is going to happen to this country in the next 25 years. I mourn for my old country back.

Country: | you know what Matt. over here in Aussie we went through the same thing. we had for many years at our high schools and colleges a system called the Army Cadets which was attached as an after school activity. After the Vietnam War Army Cadets were disbanded by our then Labour Federal Government and was frowned upon by a minority of those who resented the military in this country. When that Government was thrown out of office in 1975/6 and the Fraser Liberal (conservative) Government gained office federally back came the Army Cadets back in all our high schools. We still have that Cadet system in our schools today but also we have our AirForce Cadets as well. You know what the arguement put forward was when both system were disbanded. it is as follows, schools are to be a seat of learning not of learning about war and violence and we should all live in peace etc. Just thought i would let you know that Matt. similar things happened here as to what your post is talking about |

Country: | And then the kids have no chance for a bit of adventure, etc, especially if their families aren't too rich, and can't afford to send them on the dumbed-down PC equivalent. So they learn nothing AT school, and nothing OUTSIDE school, either, now. Great. Well done.

Country: | What do you expect? Nearby Berkley has "Ho Chi Minh" Park! I say that part of the country needs to be a "Free Attack Zone." Let a 9-11 happen to SF and you'll see how different those commie b@stards change their tunes.

Country: | It's ok to be pretty much anything in San Francisco with the exception of any link to the military? Why? I'm guessing they think that the military causes wars. Kind of like saying the cops cause crime, isn't it?
Agree with a post further up the page, nothing has happened to them so they have no fear. Idealism increases with distance. It is pretty safe to say that these guys see themselves far away from the reality of being attacked, they think it won't happen to them. To their minds, the military is the threat to peace, get rid of all threats to peace and we will have peace? Is that the thought process? I'm really kind of missing it all. |

Country: | Man Matt you beat me to the punch. This is nuts!!! What the hell is wrong w/ the folks out there??? It seems as if it's the San Fran school board's way of thumbing their nose at the fed gov't... I hope they lose funding over this issue...

We did lose the armoury aspect of it though but in up the whole idea of kids enjoying themselves once again was put back in place by concentrated efforts of parents lobbying politicans and those parents telling the looney left what they could do with their ideas and directed in which way to place it. by the way Matt i was in the Army Cadets for 2 years in my last 2 years of high school and enjoyed it immensely. i did encounter a left wing idiot history teacher in my final year who objected to me wearing my Army Cadet uniform on an excursion to the Queensland University. This particular history teacher said to me that she didn't feel it was apprioate for me to wear a military uniform to a higher area of education. i replied to her. did the Queensland University still have an Army Reserve Infantry Unit. She replied it had (still does). I said good. now go and mind your own bloody business as the members of the Queensland University Infantry Unit will not object to another military uniform worn on campus. this teacher didn't appreciate my reply. hell i couldn't have give a brass razzoo what she thought. as i had Army cadets on that day and i wasn't going home to change into my school uniform just to suit some left wing history teacher. Got no real use for those who look down their noses at the military to hell with those who choose to downgrade the military |

| I'm with you all, and to think Pelosi is a San Fransicko Demican. You're seeing what Sanfransicko really stands for! What we need is a Stalin to come back from the dead and run the US for 4 years and purge the whole country (under firing squads) of stupidity, cowardice, political correctness, and the left. --If such a thing could happen..

Country: | This pisses me off. I was an ROTC cadet and it some of my fondest memories from when I was in High School. Learn so many things and I personally think it makes the students better students and better Americans.

Country: | I hope someone sues them over this of they loose federal funding for education -
I think private schools could set up JROTC programs - this might be a perfect incentive for the private sector to jump on....

Country: | I think that the government has said they will cut some funding for it. Atleast that is what I heard when California first started this up.
