| Should America Become Isolationist? What are your thoughts?
My vote is for choice number 1.

Country: | U.S.A. is doing a great job in being the worlds police and they need to continue on that line but no more sacrifices of soldiers...

Country: | In 1941...America had an isolationist policy. This worked well. So well that they ended in a war that took them by surprise and they were ill prepared for. A war whose beginnings they could neither influence or stop.
And if you look at recent attacks...the enemy don't mind attacking in your back yard.
Also you have the growth of China and an aggressive Russia. I'm sure those guys would like to see you go home.
Learn from 1941. |

Country: | What a daft notion, the U.S.A is the worlds only super-power and it's doing a good job of being one ! No nation with an isolationist policy has achieved anything; maintain the status quo.

Country: | Keep it as is. No telling how many maniacs the US has put down because of overseas presence. Keeping peace is not free.

Country: | That is not really increasing though is it.
At most I would even lower diplomacy by pulling out of the defunct UN anyhow.

For example Cheney/Rumsfeld should have known that the result of eliminating Iraq as a force, would allow Iran to increase domination in the region
You are right about the UN, its disfunctional

Country: | UN was screwed back in the 1960s during Nam they all wanted us to get in there and make a presence known to the Commies, Mao was only a side light though supposed history disproves that. it was a waiting period for China to come in and they did, we could always tell a Chinese chap when killed as he was taller than the VC. In any case it would not bother me at all we pull out of everywhere and stay at home and build us back up. it will never happen of course cause we are going to get overextended even more so in the time at hand shortly, but the clause of being mr bad boy policeman is so stinking silly, I'd luv to tell folk to put it right up their own arse as well pull out and take care of your own probs.........ain't gonna happen, we are too self-righteous |

Country: | I say Normal Diplomatic But Reduced Military Presence, but remove the USA from the UN.... Keep up our relations with the countries that matter to OUR domestic situations, trade partners etc etc....
I would like to see our military used on our borders nore so than overseas.... I have real strong convictions concerning the Illegals in this country, and it aint just the Mexicano comin from the Southern border....
Take 4 Divisions from Iraq and Afghanahole and station them on our Southern border and shut those fu*kin border highways down.... NO ENTRADA!!!

Country: | Agree. Lets get our own house in order before kicking in somebody else' door. I'm actually sick and tired of all the police actions (fostered by bleeding heart liberals) to save some country from itself and then when we are there, the US military is a "horrible war machine" (from bleeding heart liberals). Shut down our borders, tell everyone to pound sand and we'll stand on top of the pile.

Country: | I think we might be pulling back whether we like it or not. Our debt is getting to the point that the AAA rating for US Currency is threatened with a downgrade in the next ten years (for the first time since the currency ratings started in the early 1920s). That will do more to pull us out of the Middle East, Korea, Europe and maybe Japan than anything else.
We're running a huge deficiet, have a the lowest percentage of industrial production of any first world country, our currency is losing ground through most of the world and we can't even secure our southern border!
Like it or not, the next ten years will see the US pull back. We just don't have the money.
And besides, most Americans are sick of being the world's policeman. |
