I don't suppose the Vatican would allow them to all pull out some cots, eh?

The U.S. also had a very isolationist attitude at this time. They didn't want to be involved in anything to do with the war. Can you blame them for this?

I don't see why the U.S or Britain should accept the refugees from Europe, we didn't begin the conflict in the Middle-East. The Jews and Muslims being absolutely unable to live side by side have created the conflict.

The only reason the conflict in the Middle-East didn't start earlier is because British troops were stationed there keeping everything quiet. In the inter-war period, the British forces were constantly quelling tribal uprisings. Once Britain left, it kicked off. Just like some sections of East Europe, once the Soviet Union collapsed look what happened in all those Slavic countries ...Bosnia, Kosovo, Yugoslavia, Serbia ... alright, the Soviet Union was harsh but it kept a lid on all that lot.

It's always the same, with this minor nations that are so tightly packed with different races it takes the "big boys" to keep them in check.

Actually, the unable to live side by side is caused by some muslim theology, i.e. the part where all muslims "shall rise up and kill all non-believers". I don't see many Israeli suicide bombers. If your religion preaches intolerance, you tend to not get along with your neighbors. That being said, there were no Jewish "settlers" in New Palestine until the British troops took up positions in the region.

The Zionists started immigrating to Palestine post-World War I. But that doesn't mean Britain set it up, on the contrary a lot of British lives were lost to both Jewish and Arab terrorism in the early days.

Jews and Arabs were living amongst each other long before Israel, and they were fine back then. It was the existance of Israel that created the problem.

I agree on when the Zionists began moving and their "terror" activities, but the British instituted New Palestine, thus creating the basis for what is now Israel.

The root of thr problem goes back further than you guys are talking about. Jews and Muslims have been killing each other for thousands of years. Extremism on both sides is causing most of the trouble. Jerusalem being the holy site of three different religions is also a big sore spot.

The Jewish Zionists took part in acts of terror, only with a little more intelligence. As they didn't blow themselves up, they just blew up British people.

The problem in the Middle-East, as Eric says, was there long before Britain had anything to do with the Middle-East. In fact, the only reason Britain stepped into the Mid-East is because the League of Nations asked them to.

This is not muslim theology. This is extremist theology. And Israelis don't need to be suicide bombers. They don't have the UN breathing down their backs.

[4.76] Those who believe fight in the way of Allah, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of the Shaitan. Fight therefore against the friends of the Shaitan; surely the strategy of the Shaitan is weak.
[4.84] Fight then in Allah's way; this is not imposed on you except In relation to yourself, and rouse the believers to ardor maybe Allah will restrain the fighting of those who disbelieve and Allah is strongest in prowess and strongest to give an exemplary punishment.
[4.91] You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given.you a clear authority.

There is nothing in Christian text that tells Christians to kill Muslims. The Koran singles out Jews and Christians:

[4.51] Have you not seen those to whom a portion of the Book has been given? They believe in idols and false deities and say of those who disbelieve: These are better guided in the path than those who believe.

Interesting there. I will say though that of all the religions Islam is the least of them all that allows others to believe in what they wish and it does condemn other religions it seems like.

I wonder, where did you get that English translation of the Koran, Bullockracing?
All religious texts are up to interpretation.
