Getting back on topic here a bit, I believe (and this view was first presented to me by Plan_D, so there's my citation) that the entire situation in the Middle East is a double standard. You throw out a group of people (the Palestinians) to make room for a group of people who did nothing to deserve the land they now have (the Israelis). Then you arm the Israelis and put U.N. weapons sanctions (I believe there are some in effect? I could be wrong, though...) on the Palestinians. You call what the Palestinians do "terrorism" and what the Israelis do "self-defense." You allow Israel to have nuclear weapons in a politically and militarily volatile environment while watching the Palestinians like a hawk. Finally, you exalt Israel for pulling their citizens out of some of the occupied territories (and not at all peacefully, mind you) and for so graciously allowing the Palestinians to live in Israel's land. Israel's land? Give me a break.

By the way, in the previous paragraph "you" did not refer to anyone in specific. Just the general plural term of the pronoun...

Have a good day, everyone!

Thank you as well, Hunter. Honestly, though, the credit should go to Plan_D. He's a genius!

Hmmm...Israelis did nothing to deserve the land? What did the Palestinians do to deserve the land? Because you happen to live on a piece of land does not dictate that you deserve it. If you look at biblical and archeological records, the Jews have as much right to be there as anyone else. The problem is that this land is also the site of holy sites for three religions. As long as these three religions continue to squabble, there will be problems. The biggest problem is that Islam has not reached the age of enlightenment yet. Jews and Christians don't seem to have much trouble living near each other...

The Jews did nothing to deserve that land because they themselves did not fight for it in order to remove the Palestinians. Other stronger nations whom the Palestinians did not stand a chance against came and took it for the Israelis. And now the Israelis are given such an unfair advantage militarily (thanks to the U.S. and other nations) that the Palestinians still don't stand a chance at getting their land back. There will never be a fair fight for that land now, because the U.S. and other nations would not give the Palestinians a fair chance. Land does not belong to whoever attaches the most spiritual and sentimental value to it. Land belongs to whoever can take it and keep it by force. In that sense, the U.S. owns that land!

And "Biblical records?" What an oxymoron that is...
