Country: | United Nations: A Vast Wastland of Fraud and Abuse Almost half of the 47 members of the United Nations' Human Rights Council are not "free democracies" (according to Freedom House rankings), and several, such as China, Cuba, Russia and Saudi Arabia, have been widely criticized as human rights violators. Consequently, the council has failed to address any of the most prominent rights abuses around the world (including some that were called genocide) in Sudan, North Korea, Chad, Zimbabwe and Iran, among other places, but in January, the council voted its 12th "condemnation" of Isreal (out of only 13 condemnations it has EVER issued).
Get the US out of the UN. Or at least get the UN out of the US. Phooey!

[source The Tacoma News Tribune 25 March 2008] | It needs to be reformed to make it an effective body. Or if that can't be done - scrapped.
By the way what was the one country other than Israel to get condemned?

By the way what was the one country other than Israel to get condemned? | I stand corrected...as of January 24, 2008, Israel has been condemned 15 times in less than two years since the council was established. Myanmar (formerly Burma), has also been condemned by the council. Darfur, a rather nasty situation, has never received a "condemnation". Rather the Council expressed "deep concern". Isreal has been permanently put on the Council's agenda list for their "persistent attrocities to mankind" for review at each formal plenary.
What a waste of tax payer money.

Country: | The trouble is the permanent 5 never agree on anything the only time a real consensus about a situation occured was in Korea in 49/50 when the russians walked out foregoing their veto.

TO | In a simplistic manner with him there is no middle ground its white or black with no greys as there is in real life . I only had a little spurt working in the UN but we were proud of what we did but then again we have participated in most UN military missions . Remember the UN troops in Sarejevo while the powers were dithering people were dying ,starving etc. It is agiven the UN officialdom is bloated but the pongoes on the ground deserve the respect for doing a thankless job.

NEVER has Rush insulted those fighting for justice and democracy. You gotta do better than that.
