109, think of a politician like a roach. Put the spot light on them and they run for cover. You have start putting names to this sort of thing, blame a politico and you'll get them scrambling. If they think it won't affect them, they won't do anything.

Right now, you want to try and get a temporary halt on construction. Start with that as your goal. Use everything you can think of, not just Mr Nice Guy stuff. Did anybody check the airfield for oil and gas contamination? Probably plenty of it. How about traffic? Water useage? Anything you want to throw at it, keep throwing and something will stick.

The same thing happened up here where they fought the Battle of Brandywine. A developer got the land and built houses right where the battle was fought. That was enough to actually get people together and react. Took a while.

Good luck on it.

Thanks Guys for the support and Advice. It's really appreciated

The airfield is meant to be closing september to air traffic and all together febuary next year..spose that's enough time to get my firearms license

I found out there was a poll done some time ago asking christchurch if they would like to see wigram remain as an airfield , 64% said they would.

am I aloud to post a link to another forum on this subject?

That's the way to go. Get a thousand of your friends mad about this and get them all to get THEIR firearms licenses with you, and THEN you can do something about it! Your country is only 4,000,000 people? I don't think that's very different from how many there were in the 13 US colonies when we did something about unfairness and redistribution of property. . . . . among other problems

Hey Oreo yeah it's about 4m.love your support.Be cool if someone would get a Mig-21 or F-4 Phantom do some mach 1 flybys over Christchurch in protest , not much the RNZAF could do about it.Even though I hate to say that , it's true.I think they're down to somethig like 50 odd planes.like i've heard elsewhere you can't call them an Air Force anymore

anyway someone brought up the subject on a New zealand forum
if anyones interested heres the link

Wings Over Cambridge - Wigram to close!

A guy on there also sent a letter to jim anderton like me and like me received no reply

I'm outraged

Gona go study for my Firearms license test now...

Yes, this is the email address of the politcian in charge of all this.

Everyone behind this forum should 'drop him a line'. Please remember to be polite though, or he won't take any notice of you.

Does someone want to organise a petition? Something that could also be emailed to him

Cheers
Simon

What gets to me is were meant to be living in democracy and yet when did Christchurch let alone New Zealand get asked if they wanted their first air base sold to an organisation who would rip it apart to build houses

if anyone wants to read the article in 'The Press"(christchruch's main newspaper)

heres the link

A sense of closure - Mainlander - The Press

emailed Jim Anderton last night at 7:57pm with my views on important heritage being lost

got a reply from Tony Simpson 3 minutes later
informing me that my email may be replied to by Jim

got another email today telling me that jim was actively involved in making sure Wigram heritage would not be lost.???.
He asked me how we would be losing Important New Zealand History since the development was only closing the aerodrome and building a bunch of houses all over it.He seemed to be under the belief that since the tower and RNZAF museum was not going to be destroyed no heritage was lost(nai tahu don't even own the museum if they did there would be no doubt in my mind that, that would be destroyed to)so he asked me to clarify what heritage was being destroyed.

I replied 10 minutes ago clarifying that destroying No 6 and 7 hangar along with ripping up the tarmac around No 4,5,6 and 7 hangar in favour of some houses was destroying heritage.along with the obvious closing of the aerodrome preventing future RNZAF displays for furture generations.

Pathetic descraceful and a right joke

Anyone else get anything?

-Daniel

Good! Now, there is an F-86 on static display at a park near my house, do you want me to steal it and send it to you too, for your offensive?

Noice! I think I got called a racist yesterday on the Obama poll thread thing (look at it and you'll see why!) Funny thing, I've got no problem with a person's race, they can't help that. only the decisions they make-- they COULD help that. And that goes for many in my own race!
