Hmm, looking at the long line of multi milionair presidents, our prime ministers don't look like elite to me. Our queen is another story, but she has no power. Matbe you should acept that you're ruled by elite, capital elite | Marcel - actually I wouldn't argue with you.
I might add that once in office (requiring a fund raising machine behind you), our members of House and Senate (and President) are bestowed HUGE entitlements, that separate them forever of retirement pay and medical benefits concerns, and in President's case Secret Service protection plus VERY large latitude in tax free use of prior campaign funds into such Black Holes of Presidential Libraries.
There is no way Congress is serious about Social Security or Medicare because they aren't on it. |

Country: | I agree, drgn and as far as elite class, I posted as much a few days ago... Quote: |
As it is, all the percs and bennies have created an elite class that perpetuates itself to the point of dulling our senses.
| It dulls us to the point that the majority accepts it and keeps them in office.

Oh well being bitter solves nothing | I am not bitter about Winston Churchill Aussie. I just see him as a British Politican who had interests in Great Britian only at the period of time. However as a Politican he is that only a Politican not as some would have him as demigod status of the British Commonwealth. Churchill's attitude was that of Britian first foremost and last. My attitude is Australia first but also knowing we have Allies. I support Curtain in his attitude from the time Aussie. Australia needed to be defended. And we needed the USA to do so. Still RAAF and RAN were operating with British RAF and RN at the time so we were still fulfilling our obligations to the Commonwealth. But Australian Govt at the time had obligations to the Australian Public at the time to defend Australia. If Churchill couldn't or wouldn't preceive this. Well to bad for Churchill. And still Aussie this isn't Churchill bashing its called having a different opinion to some one else on a historical figure or person at the time. What annoyed me was Basket's statement of Churchill Bashing. How dare we have a varying opinion on Churchill the Demigod of British Politics. Well Aussie I dare and quiet often have a different opinion.
And Njaco I took your post in as tongue in cheek about Dundee movies so no drama mate

Country: | Hooray! I see someone joined me in saying they "love" the president. Actually, "love" is too strong a word as there are some things I disagree with him on but I am certainly not going to say I am luke warm about him. Prediction: 4 years from now Bush is going to look pretty good to a lot of people and 50 years from now to many more. |

Country: | History will judge. You may be around in 50 years to see how it judges Bush. When Truman was president, I felt much the same way about him as you do now about Bush and I was just as positive as you appear to be. I have come to appreciate Truman more as time goes along. I suspect that historical perspective will cause many to alter their opinions about much that has occurred in the past 8 years, but certainly not all. |

Country: | I agree.
I'm happy to see that Reagan is remembered so fondly. We was ridiculed and lampooned by many during his term.
I don't buy bashing the Pres cause it's the cool thing to do.
