| I was hoping Bush would have learned enough in his first term, to be able to function effectively in his second.
I was dissapointed about that, just like millions of others.
A smart president surrounds himself with cabinet members and advissors of high competence. He didnt and is now being fed advice from his boot licking minnions.

Country: | here's an iraq war breakdown for some of you who think you know something about the military and how it runs because you have the internet and have watched the military channel or because you 2nd cousin was in a re-enactors association, or the only time you've worn a uniform was on halloween. if i tell you to mow my lawn and halfway through it i take the lawn mower awy and replace it with a push mower it'll take longer. but if i take your push mower away and give you hand clippers it would be impossible, right? you'd quit would'nt you? well thats what has happened to ..some.. of the generals. now the same thing is happening to my old division commander because he has spoken against the idiots in washington. sorry people had to rant..armchair generals piss me off. |

A smart president surrounds himself with cabinet members and advissors of high competence. He didnt and is now being fed advice from his boot licking minnions. | Who are 'the boot licking minions' you refer to?
Which administration meets your test?
Jes curious.
Oh - Btw all Federal Employees swear an oath to Uphold the Constitution - how do you differentiate them?
Last - what qualifies a 'civilian' politician from a 'military person', in your perspective, other than 'Duty, Honor, Country' vs 'It's all about me"?
How many civilians do you know that get up in the morning and ask themselves how they can be the best they can be in service of their country?
From what perspective of integrity and service do you have which accords you the respect to call Gates or Rice 'bootlickers'..
Should I be awed by you? Not many people can sneer with your style and I really am curious what credentials you bring to the table.
Regards,
Bill |

I dont really give a **** about you either. Go bloviate in a cow pasture where the crows can listen to your dribble. | Syscom that was uncalled for. No where did he use that kind of language to you. If you dont like what he said, then you can send it to him in a pm. The forum is not a place for that.
Believe it or not syscom I like and respect you, but you are very arrogant and in some ways quite ignorant.
I am going to hold you to the same standard that I hold everyone else. You are recieving an official warning.
I only give one...

Duhhhh.... a civilian is not someone on active duty or reserve duty. Was Eisenhower an acceptable citizen when he was President?
Lots of civilans contribute to this country and it is not the sole prerogative of the military to have a monopoly on the concept. Agreed, but Serve and Contribute are two different concepts - you understand that difference - or is it my ignorance?
Many of his staff are the bootlickers that tell him what he wants to hear, not what he needs to know. The Katrina debacle is a good example of it. And it is a strange concept for someone of your tiny intellect to understand, but respect is earned not given. Understand that? Gosh - you figured me out pretty quickly. So the Katrina debacle was a 'bootlicker' issue - not a poster child for events from mother nature way beyond an incompetent Mayor, an idiot Governor, an unprepared Fema, or 40 years of graft in New Orleans that ignored Corps of Engineer warnings? - it was all about 'bootlickers'?
I gotta tell you I AM in awe of you. Nobody else I know can dissect root causes like you do.
I dont really give a **** about you either. Go bloviate in a cow pasture where the crows can listen to your dribble. HUA - I'll get right to it Sir! - May I have another? | Simple question - what about you that should command respect for the comments you have made in this thread? Serious question.
A lot of us would try to deal from facts so I at least expect that you were a former Cabinet member, or perhaps a current one to be able to observe daily meetings and actions of the people you have so little respect for. Were you perhaps formerly running FEMA?
Do you have a name Syscom? It's ok if you choose to remain faceless and anonymous -
I would understand that a person of your intellectual stature would probably choose some form of cover just so you wouldn't be overwhelmed everywhere you go - maybe like Paris Hilton or Anna Nicole Smith.. It must be tough being so well known and adored
I may not command your respect Syscom. I may incur your contemptuous wrath once again for posing impudent questions - others may tremble in your presence.
I will try to flee your grand presence and desparately not to cry when you are unhappy with me

Arent you so smart thinking that only federal personel have to take that oath. Hundreds of millions of civilians have and will continue to do so too.

Country: | Mister Syscom -
What I find amazing and sad is that you are so contemptuous of the citizen soldiers that ensure that YOU aren't serving or fighting to defend Your oath to the Constitution in order to become a citizen and that you had the opportunity to come to this Country and enjoy the freedoms you have.
If you tell me that you came to this country, became a citizen and served even a short but honorable time I have respect for you. If not, you lack qualification (not the will) to sneer at the military.
You can be disappointed in the results of the administration and the cabinet but you don't have the qualifications to describe them as 'bootlickers'.. but you Do have the Right to call them 'bootlicker' -
it just doesn't give you any respect for your comments..
We can agree that we seem to not like or respect each other - I can live with that.
And no about the date. I'm just amused by keyboard warriors who hiss so proudly but prefer to stay in the shadows with respect to identity.
Hiss away shadow warrior - it suits you. I will refrain from asking you serious questions.
Regards,
Bill

If you have a problem you PM each other.
If you wanna be arrogant and ignorant go some place else.

Theres only three possibilities on why this president has screwed up.
1) Stupidity, which isnt the case as hes quite smart.
2) Incompetance, which is partially the case.
3) Inept support from his cabinet and staff, which is mostly the case.
And his ineptness as a manager has been plainly shown the past couple of years as many of his problems have been completeley self inflicted.
Katrina...... ever wonder why in the day(s) leading up to it, he didnt ask Chertoff what was the plan if there was a mass disaster that the states couldnt handle? And even if he didnt ask that question before hand, you think he would have asked Chertoff the same question the day after what the plans were, and since it was going to be a negative answer, he should have fired him on the spot.

I can call them anything I want. See admendment #1 of the constitution. One tends to look foolish calling people names without facts - in fact, calling them names is silly - You and I have enough faults of our own to waste time telling other people how stupid THEY are

And even if he didnt ask that question before hand, you think he would have asked Chertoff the same question the day after what the plans were, and since it was going to be a negative answer, he should have fired him on the spot. I was in New Orleans in 1965 when Betsy Damn near breached the Locks and levees - Michoux was under 12 feet of water, winds were steady 110 gusting to 165 in the French Quarter but it was a III before hitting land. The city was no more prepared than today. the state was no more prepared than today. You think LBJ was brilliant and Bush was stupid because of different results? The Corps raised the same issues 50 years ago and 40, and 30, and... so - LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton yawned and dodged bullets - you think Chertoff (who can't authorize funds for levee buildup deserves to to be shot for the mistakes of every Pres since ?? Who deserves to be shot for 'not having a plan' for Mt St Helens?
New Orleans is Unique. The San Andrea fault is unique, Yellowstone is unique, Krakatoa was unique - where are the plans to PREVENT any of those disasters from occuring? What is your plan?
Wait till the Mississippi changes course if you want to see a real disaster in New Orleans when the #2 port falls somewhere short of Dallas in annual tonnage - then blame the current President whoever he or she is? The Corps and every knowledgable geologist in the South Knows it WILL happen - only a matter of time despite spending $3 B/yr to shore it up
There are a lot of processes that failed pre Katrina 48 hours but you need to fire Mayor and Guv first for refusing offered Federal aid | So,???
