Hello Henk,
Nope, they did not kill – for tribal reasons - each other inside South Africa during Apartheid (except within their own families) – without the western public taking notice of this, because the minority police and Armed Forces controlled / restricted them from pursuing their tribal customs. From what I recall a minority government in Pretoria forced a majority to use and learn Afrikaans instead of their own 35 native languages. So the majority demonstrated – started to get heated up - and then some got shot by the minority police forces.
Unfortunately Pretoria never managed to neutralize or to reform its Apartheid policy and at the same time found itself being used for international power games by the West (Foremost the UK and the US) and the East (Russia with its allies, foremost Cuba).
After they all managed (including a good share of the own minorities financial interests groups) to totally screw up this country, those governments forgot about her and now shake their heads and forward regrets upon these terrible and shocking occurrences. – Which off course are all the consequences due to the former Apartheid rule.
But luckily they are free to vote now, drink as much alcohol as they like and can thrive economically on the basis of their 35 languages.
I am not a racist, I have not read many books about countries such as Rhodesia and South Africa, but I have been there.
Regards
Kruska
