It was a close vote back in 1976. 131 for abolition and 124 against, in the House of Commons.
FYI, the last form of execution in Canada was still hanging. |

Country: | I am not sure how many states in the US still use hanging. Most if not all use either the chair, gas chamber or injection.

Country: | In Canada capital punishment rested with the federal government in Ottawa, not with the provinces, so it was the same punishment all over the country. Even in Québec, I believe. |

Country: | I think the way of executing should be harsher and less painless on the individual. If they warrent the death penelty then they did somehting really bad and they deserve it. Think of the pain there victom felt.

Country: | I used to be center around the age of 14-15 (Yes, I had political views as a child) which was odd because most are left. As each day and each new piece of crap news about scum, extremism, politcal correctness and all that crap got thrown in my face I took a step to the right. I'm only 18 - by the time I'm ****in' 25 I'll be so right wing I'll put Hitler to shame!
But seriously, the whole world is goin' to pot - it makes you glad that you won't be around forever sometimes.

Country: | And how many innocents have been put to death in today's society? Please tell us. And how many guilty scum just waste the people's money by sitting there in a nice pretty cell?

Country: | No it isn't. There's always mistakes made. If one decent person died for every 1000 scum executed - then so be it.

Country: | I fully respect your opinion on this kiwi, but I tend to look at it in the opposite way: How many scumbags go free each day, or are allowed to live off of our tax dollars in overcrowded prisons, like PD said? |

Country: | And how many innocents become victims of the scumbags that get away?

Country: | Im with pD on this ane NS and even on this. Tell me Kiwi you say that one innocent is too much well how many of these innocents are killed by the scum of the earth? If a few innocents have to die (which is unfortunate dont take me wrong) in the process then so be it.
