There are some notable people on both sides of the Senate aisle. But most politicians, regardless of party affiliation, are opportunistic.
My BIG problem with Bush right now is that he is claiming to make America safer by having our guys in Iraq while leaving our borders pretty much wide open. Sorry, but if I am going into the next town over to take care of a threat to my personal/family security, wouldn't it be a good idea to lock the door on my house first?

| All the politicians are pretty bad, and they seem to know what's best with little say from the people. |

Well if you understood more of what is going on right now....

Country: | First: Hunter thanks for backing me up
Second: Les, I understand what has happened in Mississipi. But Bush probably did better than what John Kerry would've done.
Evan, we are sending 10,000 National Guard troops to defend the border of Mexico. We are going to keep them out although it will be hard. I dont like those illegals coming over into our country either.

Country: | But we are nly sending troops after a LOT of noise has been made by the citizens of the US. To be honest, that was political expediency, not doing the right thing.

Country: | well we here in south. Oregon are sending a dump load of National Guard as well to keep borders clear ............. yeah right. look how bloody big the southern sphere and the northern sphere up on the Candian border is . . . .sorry Canadian brothers; but we may have the sources of manpower but until "literally" some of the illegals get shot dead and in front of many many illegals the influx of these non-Americans will increase in number to haunt us. . .
I do hate to say this but I am going too. If Bush during this closing term ever speaks of implementing his father's "new world order", I am leaving the country.

Country: | By the way, I just found out that the 10,000 troops they are sending to the border will be unarmed! So what does that get us? Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. When the Mexican Army is escorting drug runners across the border with armed Humvees, what the hell is an unarmed guard soldier going to do? This was nothing more than a political move to try and appease Americans while Bush pushes his amnesty bill. You can call it what you want, but it's amnesty, period.

Country: | maybe dropping our pants in unison on the borders will stun the Mexicans so bad that the visual will keep them home to work ?

But seriously, that does sound like the type of political, absolutely pointless sort of thing we'd try in a situation like that.
Unarmed? Pffff!! What the hell's the bloody point? |
