Country: | Unarmed? ARe you kidding? The National Guard needs to be armed with something! I say that if they are armed we fire at a couple of them and show we mean business. Who cares what the Liberals and Peace protestors say anymore.

Country: | We cant do that P38. The US Military can not and never will just fire on unarmed civilians, I dont care if they are coming across the boarder illegally or not. That is pretty naive of you P38 to wish and think something like that. People that would do something like that do not belong in our military.

Country: | Republican all the way. I do agree with some things that need to be done as a middle ground between the parties, but my main sticking point is Pro-Life (which makes me Republican, along with a few other issues). Anyway, is it bad if your whole family including relatives and distant cousins are Democrat and you are Republican? That would be my scenario, I'm the ONLY Republican in the family tree. Also, would it be fair to say that most Democrats voted for Kerry last time because he was going against Bush? I have an exception if that were true, because my family voted for him because of his "great service record in Vietnam" |

Country: | To be fair, P38 said if "they are armed." I'm pretty sure that "they" means illegals crossing the border. So, he wasn't suggesting that we shoot at unarmed civilians.

Country: | Interesting approach, I think we should just build a really large stone wall and make it illegal to enter the country more than it is. Put a whole bunch of tresspassing signs and if you come across you get a tazer gun to your nuts and then kicked back over the wall.

Country: | The wall idea will stop some, but remember that they have built a boatload of tunnels as well. I'm with Dan, make it a sorta DMZ. We have to get this under control and all Bush is doing is giving this lip service. A bunch of unarmed Guard guys aren't going to really do anything at all.

Country: | Okay, I'm not really the type to say that one party would do a better job of handling an issue than another party, but Republicans are in with big business. Can anyone truly deny that? Therefore, no Republican will ever take any true, effective steps towards reducing or eliminating the illegal immigration problem. I'm not saying a Democrat would either, but Republicans know who their friends are, and big business wins with illegal immigration.

Country: | both sides are in bed with big business and only want votes which equals power. It will not matter as neither party can stop the illegals from coming over both borders. I say we invade Mexico with Pizza establishments Death to the Burrito stands!
geez even Republican or he seems to think he is McCain cannot make up his mind on the issues from day to day as he is heavily influenced from outside sources which is readily apparent from his short one-lined statements which come too quick from his mouth

Country: | I know that most members of this forum believe that all politicians are corrupt, but I think that many politicans are wishy-washy about illegal immigration because they just plain don't know what to do. Perhaps it is because, as Erich said, there is nothing that can be done to stop the influx of illegal immigrants, yet the American public demands action, and the Republicans need action before election day. However, illegal immigration is a very complex issue, and we can't expect our politicians to have a magical cure-all for it. It's pretty much like slavery in the 1800s. Politicians didn't know what to do, but many Americans demanded action. So, the politicians just said what they could, did what they could, and looked like jackasses trying to solve an issue which was almost impossible to solve. It's pretty much a lose-lose situation for politicians, especially Republicans, since the public tends to blame problems on the party in power.
