    Very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the parts about ships using radar for gun laying. Read about what the USS Washington did to the Japanese heavy unit Kirishima during WW2. It almost was not fair.

    HMS Warspite achieved a hit on the Italian battleship Guilio Cesare at a range of some 26000yds (14.77mi; 23.77km; 12.84nm) during the battle of Calabria (1940). Scharnhorst was rumoured to have done the same to HMS Glorious in June 1940. Warspite went on to use her radar in the close-range annihilation of two Italian heavy cruisers at Matapan in March 1941,

    AFAIK, Warspite did not have radar when she scored her long range hit against Guillio Cesare. According to this site, she did not receive gunnery radar until late 1941:
