    Merlin Olsen dies

    Merlin Olsen, one of the famed "fearsome foursome" defensive line of the LA Rams in the 60s/70s has died. In addition to being a gifted football player, Olsen was a class act.

    One of the greatest defensive tackles ever. Was named to the National Football League 75th Anniversary All-Time Team.

    I remember him from TV mostly. I seem to remember him as a gentle giant. Always seemed polite and soft spoken in his TV appearances.

    That's how I remember him too.
    IMO, The Father Murpy role was a good fit for him.

    I hadn't heard about him even being sick...
