| World Football (Soccer) Thread Well I like several sports: American Football, Hockey and Football (Soccer). Wel there are plenty of threads to talk about Hocky here and plenty of threads to talk about the NFL so I figured I would start up a World Soccer Thread since there are plenty of football fans out there. Here everything Football (Soccer) can be discussed. Oh and if you dont like Football (Soccer): syscom3 then please dont post stupid stuff like you tried to do during the World Cup 2006, just dont post in this thread. I will first start off with the world rankings which come out every month and were just updated on June 13. A team is ranked based off its schedule, wins and performance, ranking of opponants and so forth. I have highlighted the teams of the majority of the members of this forum. 1 Italy 2 France 3 Brazil 4 Germany 5 Argentina 6 Portugal 7 Spain 8 England 9 The Netherlands 10 Czech Republic 11 Croatia 12 Romania 13 Ukraine 14 Cameroon 15 Greece 16 USA 17 Sweden 18 Poland 19 Ghana 20 Côte d'Ivoire 21 Turkey 22 Serbia 23 Scotland 24 Russia 25 Switzerland 26 Mexico 27 Denmark 28 Bosnia-Herzegovina 29 Northern Ireland 30 Uruguay 31 Colombia 32 Nigeria 33 Bulgaria 34 Israel 35 Morocco 36 Norway 37 Paraguay 38 Republic of Ireland 39 Egypt 40 Japan 40 Slovakia 42 Finland 43 Senegal 44 Ecuador 45 Tunisia 46 Costa Rica 47 Iran 48 Australia 49 Mali 50 Guinea 51 Korea Republic 52 Panama 53 Chile 54 Angola 55 Honduras 56 Canada 57 South Africa 58 Uzbekistan 59 Burkina Faso 60 Zambia 61 FYR Macedonia 62 Saudi Arabia 63 Togo 64 Peru 65 Congo DR 66 Hungary 67 Algeria 68 Jamaica 69 Albania 70 Venezuela 71 Belgium 71 Belarus 73 Trinidad and Tobago 74 Oman 75 Wales 76 China PR 77 Cape Verde Islands 78 Cuba 79 Lithuania 80 Armenia 81 Guatemala 81 Cyprus 83 Austria 84 Iraq 85 Qatar 86 Ethiopia 87 Congo 87 Jordan 89 Slovenia 90 Zimbabwe 91 Uganda 92 Bolivia 93 Kuwait 94 United Arab Emirates 95 Haiti 95 Libya 97 Georgia 97 Guyana 99 Mozambique 100 Bahrain 101 Moldova 102 Equatorial Guinea 103 Benin 104 Gabon 105 Botswana 106 St. Vincent and the Grenadines 107 Latvia 107 Malawi 109 Azerbaijan 110 Iceland 111 Burundi 112 Rwanda 113 Sudan 114 Syria 115 Hong Kong 116 Barbados 117 Malta 118 Tanzania 119 Kazakhstan 120 Surinam 121 Estonia 122 Thailand 123 Mauritania 124 Namibia 125 Eritrea 126 Kenya 127 Bermuda 128 Liberia 129 Antigua & Barbuda 130 El Salvador 131 Singapore 131 Gambia 133 Liechtenstein 134 Niger 134 Lebanon 136 Korea DPR 137 Yemen 138 St Kitts & Nevis 139 Palestine 139 Dominican Republic 141 Chad 142 Vietnam 143 Indonesia 144 Swaziland 145 Mauritius 146 Lesotho 147 Tajikistan 148 Bahamas 149 Malaysia 159 Kyrgyzstan 151 Nicaragua 152 Seychelles 153 Myanmar 154 New Zealand 155 Grenada 156 Sierra Leone 157 Andorra 157 Maldives 159 Sri Lanka 160 St Lucia 161 India 162 Laos 163 Turkmenistan 164 Chinese Taipei 164 Fiji 166 Turks and Caicos Islands 167 Madagascar 168 Philippines 169 Cambodia 170 Brunei Darussalam 171 Solomon Islands 172 Bangladesh 173 Netherlands Antilles 174 Luxembourg 175 Vanuatu 175 New Caledonia 177 British Virgin Islands 178 Pakistan 179 Dominica 180 Comoros 181 Tahiti 182 Nepal 183 Papua New Guinea 184 Central African Republic 185 Cayman Islands 186 Faroe Islands 186 Afghanistan 186 Guinea-Bissau 189 Samoa 190 Somalia 191 Tonga 192 Macau 193 Mongolia 193 Puerto Rico 195 San Marino 196 Bhutan 196 Anguilla 198 Cook Islands 199 Djibouti 199 Timor-Leste 199 Belize 199 US Virgin Islands 199 Monserrat 199 Guam 199 American Samoa 199 São Tomé e Príncipe 199 Aruba

| First glance impression is that this rank is heavily based on the last year results: I don't see Brazil behind Italy and France as global evaluation. Is it related only to national teams or the global results of all the Country teams ? In the latter case I would agree on Italy #1 because of Milan winning the Champions league this year, in addition to the W. cup in 2006. But I think the 2007 south america equivalent (libertadores cup) still has to be assigned and a Brazilian team could win it. Also Greece seems to me a bit too low at #15: all in all they won the last European cup

It does not account for the club teams from each country. These are the official FIFA rankings and can be seen at FIFA.com

| Senior Member | It's still 8 weeks until the Premiership kicks off; living without football is a nightmare! I never take any notice of the FIFA rankings, after our current displays I don't think we even belong in the top 20 |

No problem, that game was lost even before the last penalty shot was trown. J. Pekermann is a fine manager but I dont know why the F...K he take out Riquelme who is a specialist in penalty kicks and why the F...K he cant put Messi at list some minutes in the field. The injure of Abbondanzieri (who also is a good GK in penalties) dindt help either. | |
