    1/32 scale Grumman F4F-3S Wildcatfish

I think I'm going to do another seaplane build I just finished the Revell 1/32 Arado and that reminded me of a model I built back in the 80s. I took the old Revell F4F-3 Wildcat and added a couple of scratch built pontoons to make it a Wildcatfish. I don't have it any more but if I can find another F4F-3 I'm going to try it again. I will post some progress pictures of this one.

Here is another picture of the plane.

Looks better with floats! Looking forward to the build if you can get the kit.

Looks like fun. Do you have a set of plans? Any idea how similar the floats are to Kingfisher floats? Keep us posted.

Very cool! Somebody has a Wildcatfish model out, though not sure of the scale. I believe I saw it in Squadron's catalog.

This one got to my curiousity. With a bit of quick work, came up with a comparison. Scale drawings matched up. Looks like same float with different rudder IMHO.
Makes me want to buy 3 Monogram kits and give it a go in 1/48.

    The model is in 1/72. S q u a d r o n . c o m - Cookie

Apparently the Edo Corporation made custom floats for this one so it was a slightly different float.

I don't know why this one fascinates me so much. Here's a link to a 1/48 conversion.
1/48 Grumman F4F-3S "Wildcatfish", but Tom Cleaver

If I built one I would make it a "what if" and put it in RCAF markings sitting on a lake in Northern Canada with the pilot standing on the float FISHING !!!!

Yep - no longer looks like a golf trolley, as the wheels are gone!
