    R/G Hawker Hurricane Mk IIb

    Greetings, gentlemen:

After allowing the dust to settle (along with spiders and cobwebs) on my workbench for about a month, I have resumed work on my 1/72 scale Revell-Germany Hurricane Mk IIb, which came out in the 1990s. A real honey of a kit. It's not a shake-and-bake, like a Tamiya, but the fit isn't bad and the finish and detail are very good. Here are some in-progress pics, taken about an hour ago....

    More Hurribomber pics

Here are two more..... The canopy glass is thin, and I believe that I can snap-glue the sliding portion in the open position over the rails, and it won't sit proud of the aircraft spine. The windscreen is permanently cemented on, using Testor's non-toxic cement, while the aft section is glued in place with white glue. I will be taping them both for frame cutting using Bare Metal Foil.

The elevators, prop, and prop boss are all white glued on, to be removed for further airbrushing.

Hope you enjoy these. Comments/constructive criticism welcome.

    Happy modeling,

    Pete L'H.

Certainly looks good, and a nice kit too. Only one sugesstion - check the joint on the spinner, it might need a tiny bit of blending in.

That is a nice little kit; the engravings look really nice and I bet the kit is about 1/2 the price of the Tamy?Cheers Kevin

    A little more progress...

Thank-you for the kind words, gentlemen.

Earlier tonight, I taped the canopy glass with Scotch tape and cut the framework. The windscreen has more compound curves than a dog has fleas, so I decided to go with the MicroMask blue masking liquid. When it is dry, I'll cut the framework on that, as it will be easier to see. Bedtime now. Left knee surgery tomorrow afternoon...... will have plenty of recovery time to work on this baby.

Yep, good luck with the surgery - and don't go for a ten mile run straight afterwards. A five mile run is OK though.....

    Post-surgery

    Greetings, gents:

Left knee arthroscopy/arthrotomy surgery went well today. The days of me running 10Ks and 5K road races are far behind me. But I will be able to resume skiing mid-February. I'll have to be very diligent about my physical therapy and excercising, but that's not what you guys want to hear about, right?

I should be resuming work on my Hurribomber in a couple of days. Now, where did I put my Percoset?

That's a real nice looking kit. I look forward to seeing the next instalment. For now sit back tune in to WEEI and keep track on what Theo and the Sox are doing. Then come Sunday check out the Pats. That always makes me feel better.
