| Canadair Sabre MK6 Hi folks, At last I have a question. There is a halfring protuding from the right side of the fuselage of Canadair Sabres MK6, filled with some rubberlike compound. Seems this is common to all Canadair sabres. Anyone has a hint of its function? post-6446-1236709670.jpg

| I believe that's a ring so the fuselage can be lifted by a crane. I worked on one and don't remember that.

| Hi fam43, BTW I'm contact with a mate who serviced as Engine Specialist and Crew Chief in AMI (Aeronautica Militare Italiana = Italian Air Force). During fifties and sixties AMI was equipped even with canadian Canadiar CL-13 Mk.4 and he knows everything about italian Sabres. So, I've forwarded your question to him and he told me that, on CL13 Mk.4, under the halfring there was the escape duct for the excess oil from engine-oil tank (and hided by the little square hatch above the ring should be the oil refilling spout); the halfring should be some sort of protection against air flow pressure so that dumping could be operated in flight. | Great work Marco.The original question got me thinking, especially as the ring could be seen to be near access hatches. Now I know the answer!
