(28th CG, 73rd BS) W/O in landing accident in bad weather at Naknek, Alaska Aug 16, 1942. 2 Killed

Aircraft skidded off end of runway, slid into a ditch and nosed over. The bombardier, SSG William W. Chapman was killed. A passenger, SGT R.L. Holland was severely injured. Others were slightly injured.
 
Martin B-26 MA Marauder #40-1456, 77th BS, 28th CG
7 March, 1942 take-off accident. Pilot aborted take-off due to insufficient speed, struck an embankment and collapsed the nosewheel causing damage to both engines and one propeller blade to shatter. Blade punctured the fuselage and penetrated the oxygen bottle in cockpit causing a small fire. Fire extinguished by crew. Minor injuries to pilot.

Nosewheel collapsed while taxiing after landing. Nosewheel down lock failed to engage. both engines, nosewheel doors, damaged. No injuries.
