Hello All,

I am new to this forum and would like to say hello, and inquire if there may be someone who is an experienced web designer that can help me develop a website that tells a story tentatively titled " The Legend of Jackpine Joe"

My father was the bombardier on that B-24 Liberator called Jackpine Joe of the 465th and 780th out of Pantella.

On my father's 22nd mission, there was engine trouble followed by flak and attacks by German aircraft. The navigator bailed out early and took all the maps with him.

Eventually the guys made it into Swiss airspace and bailed out. The plane went on with a "ghost crew" and hit Wyden Castle, HQ of the Red Cross. Nobody was seriously hurt, but the US Government had to pay a large war reparation for the damage.

The crew was interned at the Palace Hotel in Davos and had a number of adventures there. The pilot, Archie Davis, escaped and made it back over allied lines with the help of the underground.

Fast forward: I am in contact with Captain Archie Davis's son and a number of Swiss authors and historians, including a modeler on the board, Ueli Hebeisen. We have maps, photos, and narrative for the project.

Perhaps someone can refer.

Regards,

Josh aka TC

Hey, good luck with your project. You might be surprised to learn that web design is actually quite easy and can be done for free within a multitude of web hosting sites online. You get ads but if it gets your message out there on the net for little cost its worth it. You can pay for a subscription and that opens up a lot of possibilities depending on what you want to do with your site. Take a look at Wix, for example:

https://www.wix.com/

Here is a website I made based on one of its templates. it takes a bit of time, but is quite intuitive and not difficult if you have only reasonable computer skills, like me.

Funny someone is asking questions about this b-24 here. 15th AF escort fighter group to protect Jackpine Joe
Funny indeed, but the solution to this is simple: I told Josh (Tuco's-child) about this (good and informative) forum. We are both working on this story: among other things, Josh would like to present the collected information on a website and also find out details about the lumberjack figure (it comes from Wisconsin).
I for myself will build a 1/72 scale model of this particular bomber. I am also interested in the mission details and then all the facts, starting with the problems over Munich and ending with the crash.

I've been doing web development/design/implementation for almost 30 years (which sucks when you put it that way) so trust me, this ^^^ is the way to go, there are plenty of good web design suites available for free that anyone can use. These services make it as easy as drag and drop sometimes so that you don't need a useless fossil like me to do it for you.

Your favorite? And as you being a fossil...YOUR FAVORITE?

Oh ha ha, way to make fun of us senior citizens...

Actually, I don't use any of them, we have a CMS that we pay for so I've been out of the loop on the free stuff for some years, but WIX is a pretty good one especially if you want to do any kind of online store, they're one of if not the best for that and generally it's very easy to use.

It (Wix) would probably be my first choice but like I say, I haven't had to deal with the free development systems in over 10 years.

Hope that helps.

Guys, thanks for your recommendations.

Wix and others are great, but I am looking for creative support with animations and a vintage look and feel.

A forum member, Ueli, has created some great flight maps and other documents and B-24 models to support these efforts.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

REgards,

Josh
