  | P-47 - More Firepower! I don't think this has been posted here, but I came across a couple of pics I found interesting from www.ww2incolor.com Apparently the 78th FG tried a field mod where the added a pair of 20mm cannons to a P-47. I reseatched this and apparently it was not used or used very little in combat - possibly ground attack. I love the Jug, but a fighter armed with 8 x .50 cals and 2 x 20mm cannons would have been incredible.    US Air Force - P-47 with 20mm gun David

| Good picture, didn't know they put something like that on the P-47.
