Thanks Jan. The '88 is cheaper at Model Hobbies, but with shipping added, unless getting more than one item, it's about the same. The Canberras sound good, if a little on the high side for price, and that Dora could be amazing....if it's better quality than Ian's Lightning kit! BTW, do you use the LHS that's near, I think, Glasgow Cross? I used to call in to one when in town, and they were darn good.

That's the place I was thinking about! Great little shop, and I've still got a brush I bought there back in about 1990!!
I would quite like a Canberra also, but I do think the price is just a touch high. Having said that, it'll be quite large in 48th and, if the detail parts etc are good, then I suppose it may be worth it. Wonder what they'll be asking for the Lightning(s) when they're re-released? Seems daft that the prices are high, when you compare against their last Mossie, BXVI, at about £16.

I used pastels on my Dora for the very first time as u know Jan, and Ill never use anything else again... It was so easy, just apply slowly and lightly and build it up....

The exhaust stains came out lookin just like the real thing....

Same here. First time with pastels. The beautiful part is if you mess up, clean it and start again!

Next time that I'm in town, I'll get some "dry" pastels and jump on the pastel train....

I use pastels with every build just from the local art shop. With abit of water you can simulate mud and rust end even rust runs/oil runs.

I love my pastels!! These are known as "chalk" pastels (not oil pastels) or "dry" pastels. In Art stores you can buy them by color units, the assorted boxes come with colors that I never eevr use like pink, purple and such. Basicly my colors are: black, white, gray, light gray, olive, yellow and "terracota" for rust. I use a ceramic mortar to pulverize them and save the different colors in small wide mouth jars. I found the best conatiners for these stuff are those used for poop samples, found over the counter for a few cents each. Mixing with water and isopropil alcohol make a great sludge for washes... any mistakes a cotton with water will erase it complately.

Nice buy Jan, impressive! With some of those colours, you could do some rather dubious-gendered 'customized' weathering methinks!!

They had a 64 pieces as well, for few macaronies more, but that would be overkill me think...
