How to research? - Aircraft of World War II

Hi all
A contact over on Yahoo answer has asked me to help with this question as I'd managed to answer a related question, I'm having trouble with this new one... 'Any information on the lancaster I LH118LE and the people who flew on it' .. as a relation of my friend was on this aircraft.
Any advice?

Any idea what Squadron it flew with or its fate? Was it shot down? If so when? You really need a bit more that that to go on.

Yeah, a Google search only turned up this thread and your Yahoo thread. We'd need some more information...names of crew, or squadron, or dates/mission it was lost on, etc.
