| Well it was, but not usually mounted. However many late period assault guns used MG42 on top of the tank, I don't know if it was a default or a modification.
As coaxial/mounted guns the germans preferred MG34, since it was better for that role. One can remove the barrel from the gun straight backwards, so this was easier to perform inside a tank than same with the MG42. |
