The Pearl Harbor Survivor Project - 65 Years of Memories from Pearl Harbor

Its hard to believe that the veterans that were present in the early battles of the war, are now in their twilight years.

NEW YORK, Sept. 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- We have reached the end of an era. On the 65th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the last planned reunion of survivors will take place in Hawaii. Today, the youngest of the living Pearl Harbor survivors - those who were in their teens and early 20s in 1941 - are now in their mid-80s. Given the age of the remaining survivors, this will be the last year that a "survivors' summit" will be held in Pearl Harbor.

For 65 years, Americans have rightly honored those Americans who gave their lives at Pearl Harbor. This year, before we reach the end of the era, we must pay tribute to those who fought on - the thousands more who lived to rally a nation and try to save the world from tyranny.

The Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund is building a new community online, one where spouses, children, grandchildren and friends can share stories told to them by Pearl Harbor survivors. They can also upload memorabilia like photos and letters to create "living, interactive history."

It's up to us to pull out the scrapbooks, upload the photos and write or call in to share their stories today. We must honor their commitment and dedication to preserving freedom before it's too late.
