Private Rolland Larsen - My grand-uncle's war file

    Greetings ladies and gentlemen.

After nearly a year of wait, I finally received my grand-uncle's war file from Library and Archives Canada.

I decided to condence the info and share it with you all... But I also need some info about some military slang/codes used in the file that I'm not quite sure what it means. Those therms are in bold.

Regimental Number - (Same as the above.)

Now comes the part that leave me with serious questions...

    Further Information And Follow-Up

    D.D.No.5 Lauzon P.Que. - 4 Jul 45

    Interv'd
    Upon return from A.W.L.

    Mil.Back.
Enrolled 5 May 43. D.D.No5 Quebec, Basic & advanced completed. SOS to 1st .AD Aldershot, Halifax, To St.John, gander New-Foundland, and went AWL at Sorel 27 Dec, 44 up to 24 Apr, 45.
Awarded 120 days detention, remitted 82 days.

    Pres.Sit.
Married man, no children of a fair appearance. States he went AWL. because at that time his wife was sick. (She was expecting a child.)
Presently pulhems profile all ones renders him suitable for further military training.

    Recomm.
    Suitable for further military training.

    (Signed)
    J.M. Dorais Lieut. A.E.
    Awarded the War Medal 1939-1945.
So from what I can read, he never went to the front... Even though my father told me that he wasn't the same upon his return in his family. (Which suggest he did fight.) But the fact he went AWL for four months suggest he didn't even cross the Atlantic.

Any veteran on this forum can enlighten me ?
