Hi Guys,

Finished this toady, well nearly finished it.

I started this one before my other one which is in the 'build section'
This bird is a 'one off ' because each side has different codes/serials
AR * Q, W4988 and AR * ! , JB657 and is built for a friend in Canada
AR * Q has hand painted nose art. The kit is as can be expected...Airfix.

I've had a one problem with it the letter for JB657 AR * !is not obtainable

When it's finally finished she'll be on her maiden flight to my friends house in Canada 8)

Thanks for looking and if anyone knows that letter please let me know:D

Very nice Ian!! According to the ORB JB657 crashed into an ammuntion dump at Market Stanton after hitting a tree, 460sqn RAAF lost three bombers that night. The crew of JB657 were -
F/O Randall DFM RAAF
F/S Halstead RAAF
F/O Dedman RAAF
SGT Peterson RAAF
SGT McKenzie RAF
F/S Howie RAAF
SGT Moynagh RAAF
There were no survivors from this crash.

So how many Lancasters do you have dotted around your house, Ian?
I'm imagining a mini-RAF Bomber Command... :)

Well Colin on the last count it was 30  ranging from 1/96th to 1/32nd.

Every Lancaster I see is done in this scheme. Was there any others?

Protype Lancasters had a yellow underside instead of black and there was also 'TigerForce' Lanc's which were all white on the upperside and black underside, Coastal Command had a all grey upperside with a white underside, Canadians had Search and Rescue Lanc's which where all silver with red wing tips, GrandSlam Lanc's had a light earth and a light green Camo colour with a light grey underside.

Widcat and Bikerbabe !. The person who has asked me to build this model for him is done like this because he had cousins on both Lanc's and as you've found out they both crashed and where all killed, It's his way of paying a fitting tribute to both crews of the Lanc's JB657 and W4988.

Glad you like the 'twin' bomber it's a shame i can't keep it.

Still need the code letter though :) so if anyone knows......:p
