    Grumman TBF q1/18th scale

    Ahoy
Here is my scratch built model of the famed TBF Avenger in the North Atlantic markings the model was built from plans provided by Cleveland models they offer scales of all sizes in the line of plans that once upon a time they were kits. Edward packard quit makeing kits in the late 1960s he only provided a plan service. to get a set of these plans go to www.cdlevelandair.com there is nothing they dont have. The model was built out of blue foam board sheeted with evergreen plastic the pilot is a GI Joe figure My Grand daughter let me have . The little pilot is in the scale of 1/'32 you prabaly have seen him in my previous collections always poseing for a snap shot. This time he is in the proper uniform only problem is he is out of scale and drawfed from the massive scale this model was built. I got the color schedule from a acurate minuture 1/48 scale TBF used the box cover as a guide. The Avenger is from the USS. BLOCK ISLAND CVE Baby flat top that was used in the north Atlantic. Here is my Avenger.

thanks guys for your wonderfull and warm replies on mt Avenger as you can see she is Big, If I built a CVE USS BLOCK ISLAND she would be 45 feet long I wouldn,t no where I could stash a flattop that big I would have to build a aircraft hanger and charge admission, also i would never live long enough to build about 20 of these TBFs in this scale.

That's not the 21st Century Toys model? Could have sworn! Great work!
