I have been looking forward to this build for quite a while. You may have noticed that I am a complete Spitphile and back in the 80's I built K5054, the prototype...
Well, I'm in a bit of a situation. Since I'm building 2 similar kits, there are a lot of moving parts to keep track of, and I have not used the correct markings for the F-14D. My original idea was to have a hi-vis scheme on the A and low on the D. I have 3 sets of decals and I picked the...
Well, never say on the interwebs that you will do something "soon". There are 3 shades here and will need a dark fourth shade behind the wing sweep area. I'll "definitely" do that soon as well. It is hard to notice but the medium color that goes down the side of the intake feels about right.
This is a 3 color gray scheme for the F-14D. The top is a darker gray, the sides and tail are a medium gray and the bottom is light gray. The way I painted it is probably has more contrast then on the real Tomcat but at least the work can be seen. I painted the mid tone first and masked it...
A CH-53K King Stallion carrying a F-35 (with no engine) refueling from a C-130.
(Added thoughts)
The purpose of a diorama is to tell a story and add context to your subject, but many ideas involve people doing things with the subject. Not to diminish the talent of the forum, but I am awful at...
Just a week ago, wife and I went off to "The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania" and it rained for the drive up, the hike, and the drive home. 3 days of rain. Will go back again though.
Progress and plans continue even if I haven't been posting it. The A variant will be the bright scheme, with wings out, and a CAP mission load of Phoenix, Sparrow and Sidewinders. It has a simpler one color gray Tamiya XF80 overall but will be "dirty". The D will be subdued, wings swept with a...

The plan is to have a F-14A and D, wings swept, and wings out for launch. I have one set of wings cut up and I'm...
Alamy and Pintrest annoy me. 💢💢💢💢 They throw their watermark all over pictures and want to charge me $20 to "use" them. I'm sure they didn't send their own camera crew onto a carrier to take this picture. My taxes bought this plane, the ship, and trained the pilot/RIO and crew.

I'm going to do Tomcats; and since I like contrast/history, I plan to do 2 of them. A hi-vis A and a muted D; one with wings swept and the other with wings out with flaps and leading edge extended. I have 3 DML 1/144 kits so I can attempt to cut the wings and have a fall back if it doesn't...
